Comments
Dr. Blofeld, this article has been vastly improved through your extraordinary efforts. After repeated reviews of this article, it looks like with some minor changes, it meets the criteria of Good Article status. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding this review and the below comments. Some of these are merely suggestions, especially regarding the listing of translations and transliterations of place names in the text. Thank you for the patience you have exhibited throughout this review process. -- Caponer (talk) 23:07, 17 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Under the Etymology section, how about the following reorganization of the first sentence: "The name Mogadishu is held to be derived from the Persian Maq'ad-i-Shah (مقعد شاه), which means "the seat of the Shah." This is a reflection of the city's early Persian influence."
  • Under the Early history section, rather than use the term stock, would it be more appropriate to say "Khoisan descent?" If so, this would have to be changed accordingly in the lead.
  • The second paragraph in the Early history section needs an internal citation.

  • In order to integrate all the translations and transliterations of the place names in a similar fashion to the Etymology section: "...Mogadishu stood as the pre-eminent city in the Bilad-ul-Barbar (بلاد البربر), meaning "Land of the Berbers," which was the medieval Arabic term for the Horn of Africa." This is merely a suggestion.
  • Would it work to say "service" rather than "beck and call" in the fourth paragraph of the Early history section?
  • In the 1800s–1950s subsection, there should be internal citations at the end of all three paragraphs.

  Done

  • In the second paragraph of the 1960–1990 subsection, would "assassinated" work better here instead of "shot dead?"
  • Concerning date formats, I'd make either all dates XX January XXXX or January XX, XXXX for consistency's sake.
  • In the Climate and Federal subsections, are there any internal citations for the prose? For the Federal subsection, this only applies to its first paragraph.
  • For consistency's sake, all dollar amounts should state the currency's symbol and a mention of either USD or Somali.
  • Combine the two paragraphs in the Diplomatic missions subsection and combine the two paragraphs in the Palaces subsection.
  • Banaadir and Benadir seem to be used interchangeably throughout the text. Banaadir should be used when referring to the region's present form, and Benadir when referring to the former region. The stadium seems to be the only other spelling in the article besides these two.
  • Is there an internal citation for the end of the first paragraph of the Demographics section?

  • The Sister cities table needs internal citations.
I found a source for Istanbul but couldn't find a reliable one for Almaty, although several forums discuss it. Should be OK though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:50, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I made some minor tweaks and edits throughout my review process, so please let me know if you have any questions or disagreements regarding these.

@Caponer: I believe all have been addressed now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:50, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Blofeld, all of the issues mentioned above have been sufficiently addressed! Thank you and Rosiestep for addressing these in a timely manner. This really is an extraordinary article! I apologize for one oversight on my part: would it be possible to provide an internal citation for the Railway subsection? I just noticed it didn't have one. -- Caponer (talk) 10:56, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Caponer: Well-spotted haha! Should be OK now!♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:11, 19 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
