Related to μοῖρα?

@Macedonian: I see zero evidence that the name Moira used in English and Irish has anything to do with the Greek Fates, the Μοῖραι, and lots of evidence that it has nothing to do with them:

• The article footnoted Liddell-Scott, but it only talks about the Greek word, and says nothing about the English and Irish name, so is not relevant.
• The Online Etymology Dictionary entry is unclear. It reads: "fem. proper name, also the name of one of the Fates, from Greek Moira,...". Does that mean that the feminine proper name is from Greek? or only the names of the Fates? In any case, the OnED is not fully reliable. Note that is says incorrectly that Moira is "the name of one of the Fates", but in fact Moirai is a collective name; their individual names are Clotho, Laches, and Atropos.
• I see no evidence that Μοῖρα is used as a personal name in Greek (of any period).
• The name Moira has a perfectly good Irish etymology.
• The name Moira is predominantly found among Irish people. If it were classical, you'd expect to see it used in other European cultures as well.
• Mary in its many variants is a common name among Catholics, so it is not surprising that the Irish reflex is common in Ireland.
