Use of name

edit

Somebody has changed the "based in Brighton" note to "based in London" and gone on to say more about "the" other Moist; but so many facts differ that I'm pretty sure we've just hit on a zeitgeisty name, and this is in fact a third band. The founder, city, track names and lack of a recording do not tally. I've removed the references which were wrongly attributed to the second one. Hopefully the contributor will come up with a new paragraph to explain the third band, but I've not done so since I know nothing about them and would therefore be rewording and entering data based on guesses. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 12:16, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Charming. Somebody with a different username (but similarly no user data on their user page) has reverted that, wiping out the Brighton-based band info and returning the London band version. I've put the Brighton info back in, but to avoid an edit war (and just to be polite), I've left the London band info in place as well. I'm wary of this because the editor has just copied the Brighton band text I used, and that makes me wonder about its veracity. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 21:27, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Have cleaned up the copied text so the article doesn't repeat itself. 85.210.48.101 12:07, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

What's the relevance of these other bands? There is no point in having them on this page. The page is about a Canadian band called Moist. It's not about all bands that have at one time or another been called Moist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.81.116.3 (talkcontribs) 09:36, 31 July 2006

The reason I did it this way when I mentioned the first "other" Moist, was to avoid renaming the main article to Moist (Canadian band) and creating a disambiguation page plus separate articles for the other bands (which may or may not deserve articles... so I felt this way was better.) An alternative would be to give them each articles but not rename this page, instead creating Moist (disambiguation), and putting an italic "This article is about the Canadian band. For other uses of the term, see Moist (disambiguation)" entry at the top of this article. – Kieran T (talk | contribs) 09:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
I agreed with the anon IP's comment, so I was bold and created Moist (disambiguation) and moved all the content about other bands to new articles about the respective bands. Those articles might well end up getting deleted for lack of notability, but if that is the case, then they probably do not need to be mentioned in this article about the Canadian band either. Feedback is welcome, --Paul Erik 23:51, 29 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

added some info but don't have sources

edit

Just a heads up to some potentially jumpy editors here. I just made some edits and added some information that I know to be accurate, but I admittedly have no sources I can quote. I will explain them here in the hope that someone else can provide sources, or at least delay removing my contributions. Also, i made the changes anonymously before realizing i didnt log in

1) someone mentioned a video for "Ophelia" was made and aired on Muchmusic. The song probably appeared on radio, but there was never a video for it. Changed this to "Tangerine", and added a mention of its remix. I think the remix won some MMVAs, so there may be a source out there that can be cited for that.

2) the drummer's injury. i distinctly remember the back injury occurring and it being cited (at the time) as a main reason for the hiatus. I'm not citing here that it was a cause of the hiatus, but it did happen. I also mentioned band members play with david usher live and on his records occasionally. the liner notes for the CDs confirm this.

3) as for the section i added concerning alternate versions of songs, my source here is the fact i have mp3s of all these versions, so i know they exist, but i cant exactly cite them as sources. --aoystreck —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.77.241.120 (talk) 02:00, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
