Where's the lack of context? I'm not the original author, but I can't see how this is valid for speedy deletion. It definitely needs expanding, but there is no lack of context. Cycle~ (talk) 16:14, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

The original version that I tagged is what I considered lacking in context. Thanks for your cleanup efforts. By the way, since you are not the original creator of the article, you could have removed the speedy tag too.  LinguistAtLargeMsg  16:21, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Simon the Tanner section removed

edit

I removed the entire large section of Simon the Tanner because there is a separate article on that. Level C (talk) 18:36, 13 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Who moved the mountain, Simon or Abraham?

edit

Who moved the mountain, Simon or Abraham? Why does the heading read "Simon", if Abraham was the one to move it? Makes no sense. Arminden (talk) 10:30, 3 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Hanging Church article states, unsourced: "The church...Marian apparitions. She is said to have appeared in a dream to Pope Abraham in the 970s in the story of how the Mokattam was moved by the faith of Simon the Tanner." Also quite convoluted, hard to understand who does what. Abraham dreams Mary being moved by Simon, and he/she moves the mountain? And where does the caliph come in? Please clarify the entire story for non-Copts. Arminden (talk) 10:35, 3 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

I found the story here: Simon the Tanner#The miracle of moving the mountain, and outside Wiki, in more detail, here. I'll introduce this into the article. Arminden (talk) 12:15, 3 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

"Ladform": nonsensical paragraph

edit

I have removed the sentences which are fully nonsensical. Unsourced, so unless somebody can figure out the source, find out the real meaning, and rewrite it all in proper English, it should be kept out of the article.

Somebody has copied in sentences and words they didn't understand, the result making no sense whatsoever. Or it's a case of vandalism, hard to figure it out. Knowing the source would help to reconstruct the meaning.

"They represent the northwestern part of the limestone sampling area. 150 meters above sea level, 150 meters above the surface of the upper Mokattam, in the form of an updated twisting in the cracks due to the disturbances that hit Egypt during the Oligocene and mucin periods, and the mountain consists of three successive questes. Geologically, Mokattam enters within the formation of the armies and is located above the Salah al-Din Citadel and the composition is named after the name of Mount Armies, which was established since ancient times above the front foot of Mount Mokattam."
  • They represent the northwestern part of the limestone sampling area.

What/whose sampling area?

  • 150 meters above sea level, 150 meters above the surface of the upper Mokattam, in the form of an updated twisting in the cracks due to the disturbances that hit Egypt during the Oligocene and mucin periods, and the mountain consists of three successive questes.

Nonsensical.
No such thing as "mucin period" (and periods are to be capitalised).
"150 meters above sea level, 150 meters above the surface of the upper Mokattam." => Therefore, the upper Mokattam (Formation?) is at sea level. Is there such a formation, and is it at 0 asl?
"an updated twisting in the cracks"... Did Monty Python write this? It's actually good :))))
Questes is not a word, etc., etc.

  • Geologically, Mokattam enters within the formation of the armies and is located above the Salah al-Din Citadel and the composition is named after the name of Mount Armies, which was established since ancient times above the front foot of Mount Mokattam.

Vandalism? Google Translate going terribly wrong? Or Monty Python after all?

It would be funny if it weren't published in an "encyclopedia". Arminden (talk) 15:28, 3 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
