editSpecies symbolism
editI removed the part mentioning the animal "at top center" among "symbolic details" (diff), because I found no agreement among sources on the species or what it might symbolize. (Referring to the creature scampering across the beam). Its prominent position (near exact central vertical axis, near very top) does suggest symbolism of course, I just thought I'd remove it because I didn't know what to call it (originally it was called "rabbit" which I first changed to "squirrel", but then also found references to stoat, ermine, and "kind of weasel" (in German). I guess we could just call it "small mammal" and maybe specify that it's the one on the beam. ---Sluzzelin talk 14:03, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
Picture of 2023 Restoration
editI just added information and a link to the article by curator Dr. Stephan Kemperdick about this astonishing accomplishment. It would be excellent to have an image of the completed work in the WP article proper, but I believe that that would require permissions from the museum. I am not in a position to make that approach. I hope someone at WP can take that on.
