Irreversible
Was released in 2002 in France. This page uses the 2003 USA release, which is probably incorrect. It will be up to whoever cares enough about this page to marinate on this.
Nudity
Do we really need to know what movies she appeared nude in? I'm mean, sure it's useful information ;) But I don't think it's something that needs to be mentioned in an encyclopaedia. Just put it with the rest of her filmography. Maybe a blurb like "she has posed nude and has also appeared nude in some movies. - sik0fewl 00:33, 24 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- This text has been deleted by 4.236.60.239, and previously read:
- She has appeared nude in several films, including Malèna (2000), Under Suspicion (2000) and Irréversible (2002). (Her costume in The Matrix Reloaded (2003), upon closer inspection, is transparent enough to at least warrant mention as well.)
- — OwenBlacker 13:05, Jul 4, 2004 (UTC)
- Someone added it again and I removed it again, I agree that it is unnecessary. If it were about her saying that she enjoys doing nude scenes, that would be a different story. 156.34.221.63 15:26, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
Category
I'm a little confused about the categorization of this article. Despite the fact that Ms. Bellucci "speaks Italian, French and English fluently" and has starred in a number of French films, she was born in Italy. Shouldn't she only be categorized under Italian actors? --Dsibilly 20:32, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Year of birth
I think that her year-of-birth on the article page may be wrong. On her official website, it says that she was born in 1969; but in the article it says 1964. I've changed it to 1969; but someone changed it back. I'm going to put in (1969?). Whoever erases it, please give a reason, and cite a source for her having a 1964 year-of-birth. 68.122.190.202 02:20, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
~~ Actually, Monica Bellucci doesn't have an Official Website. She even made this point clear in an interview in Filmink in June of 2003. Knowing this was some time ago, I did a search of the net and the closest I could find was MonicaBellucciFan.com - but I've been on this site and briefly communicated with it's new webmisstresses. They don't have any personal contact with Monica, nor did the girl who originated the site in 2004. --NilaLaniera 18:18, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- It was probably reverted by someone checking the IMDB article on her. It has 30 September 1964. Me, I have no idea, just passing through. Shanes 02:30, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Imdb has the wrong age. I believe it was 1969 too, but I am finding a lot of sources that say 1968, but it is definitely NOT 1964
- Surprisingly IMDb is right 99% of the time, since other sources don't do their research and usually just put the age given to them from the actor's publicist (some are proven incorrect, like Jennifer Lopez's). Usually whenever there are age disputes the older age is the correct one, as models and actresses are the people who most frequently lie about their age, and especially in Europe (Fabio got away with it for decades). Do you have any concrete evidence it is "definitely NOT 1964"? --Fallout boy 22:00, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
It would help if someone would find out when (or if) she graduated from university. The article says that she started modelling during her university years, and that she moved to a fashion centre in Milan in 1988. It seems likely that she would have graduated before this, and if she was born in 1968 or '69, she would have been 18–20 years old – a bit too young, wouldn't you agree?
- Certainly not. She has stated in several interviews that she hasn't graduated from a law school at all but rather left it for a fashion career to support her family. I would rather think that starting modeling career at the age of 24 (if she was born in 1964) would be quite late.
Now, on the "definitely NOT 1964" comment: is this based on anything else than difficulty accepting the fact, that she's over 40 (actually 41 yesterday)?
When I first searched for her birthdate, virtually all sources said 1964. So dates indicating younger age have emerged quite recently.
And not only age, her official height of 177 cm (5 ft. 9½ in.) is quite generous. One picture said 170 cm (5 ft. 7 in.), which should be closer to the truth. More on the subject here: http://www.celebheights.com/s/Monica-Bellucci-1163.html
BORN IN 1964
http://www.nndb.com/people/969/000044837/
She was born in 1964
In a recent interview she "came out" as being over forty: "I could never live there (USA). They are obsessed with youth and beauty even more than us. There is this thing in America where actresses reach 40 and go mad. The film industry wants all these young people."
In an interview published by the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica" on 1/27/2006 (weekly supplement "Il Venerdì", p. 64), she's quoted saying: "At the age of forty I have everything I want."
Both sources are not valid for checking her age. In the first source she made a general comment on how people at the age of 40 are treated. The second one can be read as: "At the age of about 40 I have everything I want" or "At the age of 40 I will have everything I want" (including her child in kindergarten).
- I saw an exposé about her in an Italian magazine, and one thing they found was a copy of her birth certificate, which indeed said 1964. Can anybody find a copy of it? I've seen magazine scans before, but can't seem to find any now.--Fallout boy 04:26, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
- Many web sources claim 1968. In an interview in the UK's Times newspaper from October 2005 she is directly quoted as saying "I am 36". http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2101-1843624,00.html Monbell123 02:17, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- That article also points out she hasn't been very honest about her age. There's a video here (in Italian) with former teachers and neighbors. According to the Italian wikipedia, it proves she was born in 1964.--Fallout boy 06:39, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
from: http://spettacoli2.tiscali.it/articoli/settembre2003/30/bellucci_doppio_compleanno.html : Buon compleanno Monica" strillava sul portale Internet stamattina Tiscali.

I'm thinking that there should be more mention of "Irreversible". This movie is so controversial (more so than even "Passion") that there are many people that know her for only this role. And I agree that noting the films in which she appeared nude is rather superfluous. Was this article written by the same person that writes the articles for the "adult film" actresses? Or maybe Mr. Skin? I don't think real encyclopedias would note which films had her nude. That is what wikipedia is supposed to be like, right? <01/05/07>
How to pronounce her surname?
Could anyone tell me how to pronounce her name? ---AB —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.227.30.251 (talk) 08:04, 9 May 2007 (UTC).
- Correct pronunciation is similar to that of Belushi: the only difference is the final syllable that is pronounced "CHEE" instead of "SHE" (and the "l" is somewhat stronger). --Gspinoza 18:30, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Real name?
I would like to add this in the article : birthname = Monique Crochon[1] but im not sure if its correct.Nayo1163 (talk) 03:55, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's not correct. Monica was born in Italy by Italian parents. Her real name is Monica Bellucci, no French-style names. She has nothing French - apart from her husband. --Gspinoza (talk) 14:01, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- The "Crochon" confusion comes from her husband Vincent Cassel's original name, which is Vincent Crochon. As for the "Monique" in place of "Monica", this is the way her French in-law family call her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.72.93.5 (talk) 14:47, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Career
The Entertainment subsection of her Career section is a little out of date and could probably use some work. Is anyone interested in doing a partial rewrite? I can try to work on it when I have time, but if anyone wants to update it, I'd say go for it.
Also, I think a small section under her filmography for her voice acting work could be added. She hasn't done a lot of voice work, but it would make her career information more complete. I can do this soon if no one else wants to take it up. -- Amber (talk + contribs) 21:56, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, so I was bold and added a template for her filmography. I'll add her voice work next, and I'll try to work on the career section to make it less jumbled. -- Amber (talk + contribs) 19:29, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Language issue under "Modelling" section.
I have briefly skimmed the article searching for a particular detail, and my eye fell upon the following:
"In 2012 she became the Dolce & Gabbana face."
Should this not be "...the face of Dolce & Gabbana"? I would think so, unless there is a particular D&G brand or property that refers to the D&G face.41.160.162.144 (talk) 17:13, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Persian Fluency
Anyone know the background info to her learning Persian? I just think it is kind of unusually. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.129.196.36 (talk) 22:39, 12 March 2007 (UTC). Well , I am not sure about her parents or ancestors that whether they were Persian in half or not but the fact is her face and beauty clearly is very similar to Persian girls and it can be true ...so lets ask her to answer our inquisitiveness! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.219.18.24 (talk) 12:29, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Monica is fully Italian. She stated that she learnt Persian after she was cast in a lead role for the Iranian movie Rhino Season. - User:اردیبهشت — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.4.181.137 (talk) 14:25, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Monicas height? And some other stuff.
I heard this beaty is quite tall? It would be great if someone could find out here body meassurements, especially her length.
Another thing that struck me is that her surname is very familiar. Belucci may be a variant of the albanian name Belushi (see the albanian actors John and *James Belushi for example). This is a common surname amongst albanians and notes a ancestorage of fat people (Belushi meaning "someone with a big stomache").
She may very well be of albanian or arbereshe origin.--Durim Durimi (talk) 16:11, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- According to IMDb, she is 5' 7" (1.7 m). I wouldn't really consider her height and measurements encyclopedic material, however (not to mention IMDb isn't really a reliable source).
- Also, Bellucci is not an uncommon Italian surname. :) -- Amber (talk + contribs) 22:56, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Given that there has been an Albanian minority in Italy for centuries, that's hardly surprising. -- megA (talk) 19:27, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
Bust size
Some other pages for models list the bust size. How about including it here or if it's considered inappropriate or unencyclopedic then just tell me :) --Xania talk 00:45, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
- It's not an issue of it being inappropriate or unencyclopedic. The {{Infobox Actor}} does not have a parameter for it, so it would have to go elsewhere in the text, and it would need a reliable source. By the way, by including an image, your signature does not comply with WP:SIG. – ukexpat (talk) 17:01, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
I think her bust size is inappropriate to include, because she is basically notable for her acting, though she is a fashion model. Her acting is important for her career, not her bust size. So, I consider this info redundant. Tanvir 16:59, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- We can add one more infobox in section ”Modeling” where we can include bust size, height, weigth and other parameters. XXN (talk) 22:19, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
First spouse
In enwiki article Monica Bellucci's first spouse — Claudio Carlos Basso it's not mentioned at all. They was married about 1990–1994, and on other wikis this info is presented, but i think it's not enough sources for that. XXN (talk) 22:23, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Briganti release date
I've been trying to find the exact release date for Briganti and the two most common listed release years are 1990 and 1993. The BFI lists 1992. The year listed at IMDb, currently 1994, has varied over the years.[2][3]
A "Making of" video I found on YouTube ends with "Summer-Autumn 1992." Whether that is the general release date or the filming dates isn't clear, but it appears to rule out 1990. --72.25.46.30 (talk) 05:49, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
1994 is the release year according to "Dizionairo del cinema italiano" by Enrico Lancia (p. 121). The "Summer-Autumn 1992" in the YouTube video is probably the filming dates. --208.123.180.158 (talk) 09:49, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Age
So, there appear to be two sources, the Times and E! that state her birth year as 1968. There's one link that was put in as a reference, that appears to be dead. Note that WP:V insists on verifiability, not truth. Also, WP:BLP - the most reliable sources should be used. Right now there's two, undeniably reliable sources that say she's born in 68. Rather than switching back and forth, let's discuss on the talk page and come to a consensus. WLU (talk) 00:29, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- Slightly more nuanced analysis:
- times online says she's 41, and was published in 2005. This points to
19681964 - Askmen says 1964
- E! says 68, therefore
4139.
- If that article was written in 2005 and says 41, it means that she was born in 1964, not 1968.--Gspinoza (talk) 15:46, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oops, I'm a moron. So, 2 for 1964, 1 for 1968. So, 1964 is the winner? I'm not even sure anymore. Thanks for the correction Gspinoza. WLU (talk) 23:34, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- If that article was written in 2005 and says 41, it means that she was born in 1964, not 1968.--Gspinoza (talk) 15:46, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Yet more date issues:
- MSN says Sept 30 1968
[http://www.filmreference.com/film/49/Monica-Bellucci.html This site says 1969, or '64 or '68]
- Time says 34 on March 10, 2003, so 1968
- Times on-line says 36 on June 4, 2005, so 1968
- Second timesonline says 41 years old, published October, 2005, which points to 1964
- Maxim says September 3, 1968
- Guardian says 1964
- Fan site says 1964
- Ask men says September 30, 1964
- e-online says September 30th, 1968
- Crave on-line says she is 42, it was published September 5th, 2007, so 1964
2 is unreliable, and the rest, frustratingly, tie at five each for '68 and '64. Here's some more:
Finally, the Notable Names Database has this entry on her. Note the footnote which discusses her age. Based on all this, what do we say? Based on the NNDB entry, I'd say we go with 1964, with a note (possibly a section) discussing the issues with her names. And you know what? I'm bringing this up at WP:BLP/N 'cause this is crazy. It's here. WLU (talk) 15:06, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I do not wish for revive the topic, but let us say she was born in 1964, as that is the age she most likely looks like. --Triple-Quadruple 2.0 (talk) 01:57, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Eyeballing her for her age is WP:OR; the sources point to two different ages, so that must be represented. Note the discussion here, I haven't made the time to make the changes, but this is the most appropriate set of edits to make. WLU (talk) 18:21, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- After much delay, both ages are up. I wish we could say for sure and an investigative piece would be nice. WLU (talk) 18:41, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
IT is 1964... Where is all of the confusion coming from??
Bellucci herself claimed she was born in 1969 in an interview with The Times (30 October 2005), but in 2003 two Italian media outlets discredited her claim. Television network TG5 interviewed several of her childhood friends for a documentary, all of whom testified she was born in 1964. TG5 also uncovered a school certificate from June 1978, which gave her age as 13 years. Entertainment website Tiscali.it obtained a copy of her birth registration from the Perugina Registry Office, which gave her birth date as 30 September 1964.Msjayhawk (talk) 21:28, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
More Age Discussion
I really see no legitimate reason to doubt that Bellucci is a child of 1968. I've yet to locate any credible support for claims that she was born in 1964. It is dishonest to continue editing her Wikipedia profile page to say she was definitely born in 1964 or to assume that year when as many sources give the year as being 1968, especially when those '68-birth sources count among them MSN, Time Magazine, Maxim Magazine, and The Times. I edited in a blurb pertaining to the discrepancy, and it needs to be left in if accuracy is to be preserved. Wikipedia may not care if its information is accurate, but its readers do.
76.241.81.148 (talk) 03:34, 16 November 2009 (UTC) MK
- There is clearly a discrepancy in the cited sources as to her age, please read them. – ukexpat (talk) 15:27, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
I've removed NNDB as not reliable. Skimming the past discussions and refs offered, the more reliable sources tend to '64, especially the in-depth sources. --Ronz (talk) 20:37, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
