Different colours
editMy fairly old UK edition has completely different colours. If it wasn't original research I'd add them to the article. 1 Yellow, 5 Blue, 10 White, 20 Green, 50 Beige, 100 Orange, and 500 Pink. — Preceding unsigned comment added by M0ffx (talk • contribs) 03:21, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- Also, the comment that Monopoly money differs from real money because of its different-coloured notes doesn't hold water for British currency, which is different-coloured according to denomination and has been for some decades. US bills are very unusual indeed in being (until very recently) all one colour and all the same size, not to mention having a bill for a denomination as small as $1. 31.52.47.97 (talk) 01:14, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
Bigger units
editBut my cousin has monopoly and its like 10k and 1M or something like that. What are the different tpyes of this money? XnoobSpeakable (talk) 15:42, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
What is monopoly money worth?
editI know the article says it is not legal tender, but it does have a worth. It has been a tender in the past to be used at McDonald's for example to buy food. Obviously there is a worth of the actual paper if recycled. Although not a legal tender, like a crypto currency... there isn't anything to prevent other businesses accepting Monopoly money as part or full payment. 120.21.25.175 (talk) 19:05, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- Whatever you can get on eBay. Looks like between $5 and $10 for a full set.
- This is not a fact worth putting in the article, though. Everything is worth something, the fact that this something is shaped like money doesn't really make a difference. Its value is still a non-notable factoid. ApLundell (talk) 22:20, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, especially since one could argue much of that is just the cost of manufacture and distribution. Its value is also subject to change and definitely not worth the periodic upkeep that would be required. Jtrevor99 (talk) 01:44, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
Fan-made $1000
editThe article mentions that fans have made $1000 Monopoly bills for editions that do not normally have them. I created one such bill some time ago for the Deluxe Edition. I’m thinking it should not be linked here due to WP:NOR and/or possible Hasbro copyright violation but wanted to confirm. I’m happy to upload to Wikimedia for usage if I’m wrong. Alternatively, I wonder if that sentence should be deleted since it has no reference and even mentioning this could be an indirect copyright violation. Jtrevor99 (talk) 01:49, 17 August 2022 (UTC)
