Monster Hunter World - a main series game or a spinoff?
editI'm not that well versed in the Monster Hunter franchise, but from what I've gathered, the team behind Monster Hunter 4 (the main series) is behind this, which would imply it's the first main title in the next generation (whereas Generations/X and XX are still from the 4th generation). Can Monster Hunter fans explain what defines a mainline Monster Hunter and why this one is a spinoff, platform bias and local co-op aside (since up to Tri, it didn't have local co-op)? - Right now, I don't think we have enough info yet. Spinoffs have generally features very different gameplay modes compared to the standard hunting approach, but that's not 100% true (Frontiers). Capcom will likely push more out this week so we'll have a better idea, but right now, it feels as a main game in the series. There's no narrative structure, so it's hard to go by that. --MASEM (t) 06:07, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Open world
editThe article says it is an open world game, yet it is not part of the open world video games category. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalheadgamer (talk • contribs) 03:36, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

Merge Proposal
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- Defaulting to not merged due to a lack of real explanation from the nominator and multiple people who are, at least, skeptical of the idea. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 07:35, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
I was thinking we should merge the Iceborne expansion page into this, as the Sunbreak expansion of Rise doesn't have a separate page. What do y'all think? SirGamers (talk) 15:25, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Either that or we split Sunbreak into it's own page SirGamers (talk) 15:41, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- See WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Just because one page does it like this and another page doesn't doesn't mean we need to force conformity between them. Masem (t) 16:21, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Well, it might still be a good idea SirGamers (talk) 17:00, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- What would the benefit be for merging it? - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 19:42, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

- Oppose: I originally split the article on WP:SIZESPLIT principle. The article for Rise is not as long as World. Sunbreak is likely notable on its own though, and a separate article for it is viable. OceanHok (talk) 15:44, 27 May 2024 (UTC)
