69.181.123.119 contributed most of the article in one copy / paste move. It is a duplicate of http://montanakids.com/db_engine/presentations/presentation.asp?pid=3&sub=Capitol+History so I have removed it unless someone can prove it was here first. --Dual Freq 13:11, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Winning competition design by George R. Mann for the Montana State Capitol, 1896 (unbuilt).

The picture on this article is clearly not the current Montana state capitol building. I don't know if it is mislabeled or perhaps a rendering of a proposed building, but the article does not make that clear. Can anyone put an actual photograph of the building on this page? 64.61.29.102 (talk) 20:23, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Having been alerted to this, 5 months later, on Humanities reference desk, this is definitely not the Montana capitol, and I have removed it from the article. Maybe it's an early artist's conception, but it's not the right building. It bears a strong (though not identical) reference to the Minnesota capitol, which of course does not have mountains in the background. Someone pulled a fast one on the Library of Congress with this image. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 07:58, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
According to the LOC page this was a competition drawing, not the final design, so one can logically conclude that a different design won. howcheng {chat} 23:51, 24 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that issue was settled awhile back, though apparently not here. The architect combined elements of the St. Paul building and the Arkansas building, I think it was, and submitted the design. The eventual winning design was different. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots00:43, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
