editMontargis abbey, which was founded by the de Montfort family as a Dominican Nunnery, surely deserves a mention here? Eleanor of England and her daughter, another Eleanor, who married Llewelyn the Last, both spent much time there, and it has been hard to get information on the abbey anywhere else.
Pronunciation
editMontargis has a strange pronuncation which most English speakers probably wouldn't get from the spelling. If someone could add the IPA pronunciation, that'd be great. I would, but I don't understand the IPA all that much. A reference for the pronunciation is here. http://www.slowtrav.com/france/language/place_names.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.101.149.62 (talk) 03:01, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Châlette
editWith regard to the sentence: "... In the 1880s, a rubber factory was built in Châlette, a district of Montargis...", it must be said that Châlette(-sur-Loing) is not a district of Montargis but a separate commune - albeit located within the urban area (l'aire urbaine) of the latter.
