This page is biased in favore of pedophiles, someone that digs into this kinda stuff really needs to look deeper into this, they say he was convicted for 20 images collected over 6 years? that doesnt sound true. i got this info from another page: "Morton Berger was earlier awarded a 200 year sentence by the Arizona court because he possessed 1000s of porn images of children in his computer. The court awarded 10 years for each of 20 images he possessed for a total of 200 years punishment. This sentence will be served continuously for a total of 200 years without the possibility of a parole. The Prosecutor originally asked for 340 years." from http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/127985/US_200_year_Porn_Sentence_Stands_in_Supreme_Court i think theyre trying to make this guy look like some victim of injustice. regardless of how hars or lax his sentence might be, the info is wrong. I have amended it to state that these were specimen charges representing a larger collection. Richard75 15:15, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
The only noteworthy aspect of this case is that the sentencing was particularly harsh. I don't believe the article to be biased. That the sentence delivered to Morton Berger was too extreme is whole point of its public interest.209.29.84.21 04:49, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commutation of sentence

edit

The governor's power to commute sentence was considered by the Arizona Supreme Court here: http://www.azcourts.gov/Portals/0/OpinionFiles/Supreme/2006/CR-05-0101-55876.PDF In footnote 14 on page 45 they said: "The governor generally has the power to grant pardons or commute sentences. A.R.S. § 31-443 (2002). In this case, however, the statute setting forth the sentence purports to preclude that remedy. A.R.S. § 13-604.01(G) (providing that defendant is not subject to pardon or early release)." Richard75 (talk) 01:13, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
