i think what it symbolizes is that we are dirty without Christ. the usual color of dirtiness is black. sowhen we repent Christ forgives us and we are clean. its kinda like you bleaching clothes. if you have a stain in them then they become clean--Brent Perry 20:23, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Reference on what churches honor St. Moses the Black

apparently legendary

There's no writing attributed to him, and this page makes no distinction between history and legend. I don't find him mentioned in my Encyclopedia of the Christian Church, and the online references to him are all hagiographic rather than historical. Jonathan Tweet (talk) 23:17, 28 July 2019 (UTC)
