Moto G (2014 version) → Moto G (2nd generation) – per Nexus 7 article, Talk:IPod_Touch_(5th_generation)#Requested_moves, and WP:CONCISE – ViperSnake151 Talk 20:45, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- This is a contested technical request (permalink). EdJohnston (talk) 23:54, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- Comment: The naming of members of a product series is often disputed, so it's better to have a full discussion and try to get consensus. Compare the five moves in 2014 of IPod Touch (5th generation). I hope the nominator will explain his reference to the Nexus 7. What is the implied precedent there? EdJohnston (talk) 23:54, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- OH wait, I just realized that they also used the same disambiguation pattern as what this article uses currently. But the Moto X article uses Generation instead, and the majority of sources uses "generation" in regards to these. ViperSnake151 Talk 00:28, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Nexus 7 is disambiguated as Nexus 7 (2012 version) and Nexus 7 (2013 version), whereas the iPod Touch articles use nth generation. It's a question of whether we want to consistently name the Moto X and Moto G articles as Moto X (2014 version) and Moto G (2014 version) or Moto X (2nd generation) and Moto G (2nd generation). --Article editor (talk) 15:35, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- In both of those cases, the manufacturer specifically used "Nth generation" or the year to refer to those. Motorola has made no such distinction. ViperSnake151 Talk 15:39, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Support. Moto G (2014 version) could refer to the second version of the Moto G 1st generation (4.5" display) model (4G, gyroscope & MicroSD card slot, introduced May 2014), or to either of the first versions (single or dual SIM) of the Moto G 2nd generation (5" display) model (3G, introduced September 2014). In the near future it will also refer to the forthcoming 4G version(s) of the 2nd generation model. The Moto G article should be moved to Moto G (1st generation). Moto G should be a disambiguation page. The Moto G (2014 version) article should be moved to Moto G (2nd generation) as proposed. Moto G (2014 version) should redirect to the new Moto G disambiguation page. 183.89.178.51 (talk) 22:55, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- Support. Per the above, use 2nd generation. Frmorrison (talk) 16:55, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Advantages over the predecessor
editFor that section, I would like to convert to table format (e.g. iPhone model comparison) for clearer look. Any yes/no?Wasill37 (talk) 03:52, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Motorola Logo as main picture
editWhy is there a picture showing the Motorola logo on the page? I believe that a picture of the mobile unit would be a much better option.--124.253.54.105 (talk) 14:27, 20 October 2014 (UTC)
- I agree - I'll check if I can find a picture on commons - otherwise I ll take one myself ... --ChristopheT (talk) 12:08, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
- added - not sure about the size - maybe s.o. with more experience should have a look at the info-box and see if that is how it s being done ... --ChristopheT (talk) 12:39, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
- I've replaced this with an extra-humungo-ginormous image, but it was good of you to take the trouble to photograph your phone - some people would have just moaned without doing anything. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 21:45, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
