Name
edit"Homa" is a misnomer done by the British who did not know the local language, dhoLuo. The real name is Got (Mountain) Marahuma (famous). It was shortened by the Luos who still call it "God Uma" for short. The British colonials heard the Kiswahili word, "Homa" which means fever instead of the Luo word "Huma" pronounced "Uma".
