2024
editSo why is there nothing about the 2024 outbreak?? There are many cases in Africa and Europe and Asia now have their first cases. 49.185.185.23 (talk) 07:39, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Monkeypox outbreak → Mpox outbreak – The name changed to mpox in November 2022 already. It is used for the titles of the most recent outbreaks, and Mpox outbreak currently redirects here. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 14:23, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support, with 'also known as Monkeypox outbreak' in the first sentence per reliable sources preferring 'Mpox', with the declining use of 'Monkeypox' still prevalent enough to be mentioned. Also the previous outbreaks are called 'Monkeypox'. Svampesky (talk) 15:32, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nom and Svampesky. ArkHyena (talk) 00:15, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose and delete DAB pages are not a search index and this miserably fails WP:PTM policy as it's simply an index of different outbreak pages disguised as a DAB. Alternatively, redirect to Mpox. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 16:05, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support for consistency with Mpox. Although this index may be merged, made into a list article or redirected to Mpox#Outbreaks. Nonetheless discussed separately. DankJae 19:20, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support as both the official and common name of the virus is now mpox. Moreover, this doesn't fail PTM at all. There is absolutely a good number of people trying to look into this who would not know that this outbreak is not the same one as the 2022 one, let alone that there were mpox outbreaks before that one. The sorts of valid use cases that PTM discusses align with this one and absolutely do not align with the invalid ones (e.g. naming all of the zoos at 'Zoo (disambiguation)').
