Upgrading the article?

edit

As it stands, this article hardly justifies its existence. In the hierarchy of MP characters, Mr Rushworth is minor. Some of the current content is padding. Some of it is trivial and unreliable. It would be possible to rewrite this, placing Rushworth's role in relation to some of the major themes in the novel. For example, Rushworth is Maria's ticket to freedom from her perceived "imprisonment" at MP. Her disrespect and 'disobedience' toward him has strong symbolic significance; the fact that he is difficult to respect heightens the ethical dilemma. Then there is the more basic issue of whether to marry for survival, convenience, or mutual affection. Petrosbizar (talk) 18:18, 3 March 2019 (UTC) Rushworth's estate at Sotherton plays a major part in the early development of the novel. This could be a useful place for holding that info and the critical discussions about it. Petrosbizar (talk) 18:29, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
