The result of the move request was: MOVED to Mr. Wimpey (video game) per agreement of all participants and WP:NCVGDAB, with Mr. Wimpy redirected to the Wimpy dab page per majority. (non-admin closure) In ictu oculi (talk) 09:40, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
Mr. Wimpy → Mr. Wimpy (game) – The plain title Mr. Wimpy should be a redirect to Wimpy (restaurant)#Mr. Wimpy, which discusses the character in general. --Relisted. George Ho (talk) 18:46, 21 May 2015 (UTC) – 209.211.131.181 (talk) 18:48, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- Per WP:NCVGDAB (video game) is to be used over (game).--70.27.228.231 (talk) 02:36, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

- I'm fine with "(video game)" as a disambiguator as well. My concern is that the name of the character should point to the information we have on the character, not to a BurgerTime clone. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 04:30, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- Rename then disambiguate to Wimpy (disambiguation) as multiple uses, of things with this surname or nickname -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 05:26, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- Suggest Mr. Wimpy → Mr. Wimpy (video game) as per WP:PRECISE and WP:CONSISTENCY redirect per nom but adding a "Mr. Wimpy redirects here" hatnote to section. GregKaye 05:34, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: no consensus. In light of complications that arose from removing the disambiguator. (closed by non-admin page mover) — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 16:14, 12 September 2022 (UTC)
Mr. Wimpy (video game) → Mr. Wimpy – Unnecessary disambiguation, title only refers to the video game DigitalIceAge (talk) 06:01, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

- @DigitalIceAge there is a previous consensus on this. see Talk:Mr. Wimpy (video game)#Requested move 14 May 2015. May require another RM discussion. – robertsky (talk) 07:55, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- I agree that it needs an RM because of the previous RM. Having said that, I'm not sure I quite understand the closure of that previous RM. I get the impression that this next one will be reasonably straightforward. Dr. Vogel (talk) 12:08, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

- @DrVogel:
That is actually your undiscussed move which was prevented by the admin wasn't it?Even without the previous RM this was certainly not a case for an uncontroversial move. This obscure freebie at Wimpy restaurants was one of dozens of promotional giveaways during the use of the character. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:57, 6 September 2022 (UTC)- Hi, no, I never moved this article. It was brought up as a technical request and I opened this RM because I didn't think it was uncontroversial. I supported the move initially, but I may change to oppose as per the new reasons people are giving. Dr. Vogel (talk) 17:08, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- @DrVogel: sorry, I misread the page history, my mistake. Also noted editors below comments on refs to Mr Wimpy in the article 2016 having been removed. Very odd that one promotional freebie for a character should override what evidently was years of promotions. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:22, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- no problem! Dr. Vogel (talk) 20:37, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

*Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 18:22, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Please check Google books - nom info is incorrect. @Ortizesp: In ictu oculi (talk) 09:57, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Neutral. In addition to the video game, there's an ambiguity with J. Wellington Wimpy, and there's potential for information on the character to be included in the main Wimpy (restaurant) article. As a minimum, an appropriate hatnote will be required on the final page. Tevildo (talk) 18:41, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Comment info on the videogame and a cartoon were in the restaurant article [1] before being removed for lacking sources [2]. Considering this videogame has sources, the restaurant article should be updated to indicate a videogame tie-in was made. -- 64.229.88.43 (talk) 05:00, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Strong oppose Mr Wimpy is a character in a long running advertising campaign https://wimpy.uk.com/pages/history . The minor promotional game is a tiny irrelevant blip in that history. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:43, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose The game is based on the character, making the game primary topic doesn't really make sense. This discussion seems to be uncovering some sources about the character, and I'm guessing that somebody will put something together at Wimpy (restaurant)#Mr. Wimpy; Mr. Wimpy can remain a primary redirect to that. 162 etc. (talk) 15:36, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Support Purely on procedural grounds because the target is a redirect. If someone makes a notable article about the mascot themselves, I wholeheartedly support moving the page back to its original location, but that page has yet to be made, if it ever is. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 18:06, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- Why can't the primary topic can be a redirect? Telegram is a notable example. 162 etc. (talk) 19:17, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Zxcvbnm: there already is an article featuring the character, that's where it's correctly redirecting at the moment In ictu oculi (talk) 19:24, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. Best known for the restaurant character. A redirect can be primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:58, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
