Talk:Mudeungbyeong

The term "무등병" or Mudungbyeong is not official and is a colloquialism that simply means "rankless soldier."

i have served as a sergeant in the Human Resources Office of the ROK 781st Intelligence-Communications Battalion.

By regulation, the term is offically "장정" or "Jang-jung," since both "Mudungbyeong" and "Hulyeong-byeong" are sometimes considered derogatory, but not in a strong sense.

i have taken the liberty to make some corrections. Also, i believe that "Byeong" instead of "Byong" is a more appropriate mode of spelling, since the "ae", "eo" glides are more characteristic of the Korean language.

Besides, "Byong" might be confused with the Chinese term by an inexperienced audience.

Mudeungbyeong do not exist in South Korean military rank. Korean sometime call it for another meaning such as exoneree of military duty as joke. You can see South Korean military rank at http://www.army.mil.kr/. -- Jjw (talk) 11:11, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
