CopyVio
editThe entire article has been copy pasted from various sources. I'm rewriting it and making it more encyclopedic so bear with me as I'm not sure if I can complete it in one sitting. Cheers.Wayne (talk) 11:23, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Controversy section
editUser:Mudrooroo3 deleted the entire section as controversial, libelous and inaccurate. He has only made five edits in total, all to this article, so is new to WP policies. The entire section is sourced and although it was a scandal at the time is rather tame by todays standards so it shouldn't be libelous if the source has not been sued unless there was a later correction to the books contents that I'm not aware of. Controversial it may be but that alone is not grounds for deletion. I accept that it is sourced to a single book but I have seen other sources that contain the same basic claims. There may well be inaccuracies so if Mudrooroo3 wants to air his problems with the text here, with RS's for alternative text if possible, we can work out a solution.Wayne (talk) 15:17, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- In regards to the antire article, User:Mudrooroo3 seems to have used Mudrooroo's own website as his source. I've found three RS that say the site is not reliable so it should be used sparingly. In regards to the disputed section, I tried to be as kind as possible so I dont believe there is a BLP issue. For example, many critics are very scathing which I've toned down a bit and his sister claims that as children they knew they were not Aboriginal which I did not include in order to give him the benifit of the doubt.Wayne (talk) 17:14, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Now User:Mudrooroo3 has deleted the section (and a lot more) claiming Mudrooroo is suing Maureen Clark so she cant be used as a source. I cant find anything supporting this but if true it is no excuse for his deleting material from other sources as well. Again I ask Mudrooroo3 to discuss the issue here. If he has a legitimate arguement then we can modify the article. As it is wasting time better spent improving the article, if he deletes again without discussion I will get the page semi-locked until he has responded here.Wayne (talk) 08:51, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Passed away?
editThe anon (Mudrooroo3?) may be close to Mudrooroo so I sympathise with him/her for attempting to add the date of death (and for other edits previously made) but we can not add it without a reliable source confirming that he has indeed passed away. A death notice in a local newspaper would be sufficient. Perhaps his website could be updated? I direct editors to this arbcom decision and invite the anon to participate in this talk page.
"In some cases the subject may become involved in editing the article, either directly or through a representative. Although Wikipedia discourages people from writing about themselves, a tolerant attitude should be taken in cases where subjects of articles remove unsourced or poorly sourced material. When an anonymous editor blanks all or part of a biography of a living person, it is important to remember that this may be an attempt by the subject of the article (or representative) to remove problematic material. If this appears to be the case then such an edit should not be treated as vandalism. Instead, the editor should be welcomed and invited to explain his/her concerns with the article (on the Talk page). The Arbitration Committee has ruled in favor of showing leniency to the subjects of biographies who try to remove what they see as errors or unfair material: For those who either have or might have an article about themselves it is a temptation, especially if plainly wrong, or strongly negative information is included, to become involved in questions regarding their own article." —Arbitration Committee decision (December 18, 2005)

He has apparently passed away, although reporting on this is sparse. If so this page needs to be updated .
