Can someone provide sources for use of the name "Mehmed I." Every source I've ever seen uses "Muhammad" or something more like "Muhammad" than like "Mehmed" for the subject of this article. I know "Mehmed" is the modern Turkish form of "Muhammad," and that the subject of this article was a Turk, but it doesn't follow from that that he's normally known in English as "Mehmed." In fact, it doesn't apparently follow that he's known as that in Turkish, since the Turkish wikipedia article is at "Muhammet," not "Mehmed." So I'd like for some citations of what actual reliable sources use. john k (talk) 00:44, 15 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

In Turkish, Tapar means "he worships" or "worshipper". What is the source for the claim that it means "he who obtains, finds"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.176.100.81 (talk) 21:04, 1 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Almost a decade old comment, I know. But for people who are wondering the same, here's a source for it [1] --HistoryofIran (talk) 17:02, 22 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
