Shortening article

edit

I'm taking off the templates indicating this article is too long and too detailed to serve its purpose (I agree). Today I've moved a lot of detail over to the article Tunisian independence so now this article focuses more on Lamine Bey's role. Hopefully this will address the concerns of the template.Mccapra (talk) 19:39, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Colourised image of subject

edit

Dear fellow page editors,

The infobox for this article contains an image that appears to have been colourised and edited from an original black-and-white image. While it looks like colourised images are permitted to exist in Wikimedia Commons (see Commons:Colorization), I do not believe it is appropriate to use such an image in a factual Wikipedia article, especially in this case, where it has been used to illustrate a real, historical person (who is the main subject of the article). Isn't the process of colourising historical photographs considered by many to be controversial? Presumably it makes unverifiable and inappropriate assumptions about the appearance of the subject. Furthermore, the supposed copyright status of this image is dubious, given that the colourisation and editing is likely to have been carried out recently. For these reasons, I tried to remove this image twice from the page, but my edits were reverted without explanation. Therefore, I would appreciate it if other editors could share their opinions on the use of the image, especially those who oppose the removal of the image. Many thanks, ModWilson (talk|contribs) 20:49, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
