Less dense than the average what?
editThis article says the basin fill is less dense than the average.... It is cited to a currently broken link and a long article, can you give a page number from the long article? -166.137.209.163 (talk) 15:18, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Reworded a bit for clarity. Vsmith (talk) 16:19, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- So now we are saying that sedimentary rocks are less dense than granitish rocks? Do you have a page number or paragraph in either source? I cannot.find it. -166.137.209.146 (talk) 16:30, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- No - don't have the sources. Just trying to clarify a bit. Sorry 'bout that. Vsmith (talk) 16:43, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- The gravity is lower because the lower crust was thinned and replaced by sediments with upper crustal density. On the scale of the lithosphere that gives you a negative sum. --Tobias1984 (talk) 17:03, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Explainng it on the talk page to a geologist serves no purpose. If the information is included in the article it needs introduced to the non-expert in the audience. Msranw, thanks for the source, can you add what is interesting about this anomaly? I will look at the source. -166.137.191.49 (talk) 20:28, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Feel free to edit if you can think of something useful to add (or delete). (Msrasnw (talk) 21:44, 21 May 2013 (UTC))

I have reworded and added another source:Ford, M., Brown, C., & Readman, P. (1991). Analysis and tectonic interpretation of gravity data over the Variscides of southwest Ireland. Journal of the Geological Society, 148(1), 137-148. The original claim was from the linked to article Gravity anomalies of Britain and Ireland. This was clearly a problem. Hope this has helped (Msrasnw (talk) 16:58, 21 May 2013 (UTC))
- I removed it for now. Please add back developed into an informative paragraph about the significance for a general audience. The article could stand organization, also, basin with lots of research. What type of basin it is, the regional tectonics of opening, relationship between half grabens and significance of fill, eustasy, etc. Maybe I will have time to add something. -166.137.191.35 (talk) 20:17, 22 May 2013 (UTC).
- Added some more info and another source - please do add something about the relationship between half grabens and significance of fill, eustasy etc. (Msrasnw (talk) 09:48, 23 May 2013 (UTC))
- First, it is plagiarism of the one abstract. Did you read the article? -166.137.209.155 (talk) 12:46, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
