Prisoner?
editIs prisoner the right way to disambugiate this guy's name? Someday he'll either be executed, released, or die in prison. I think 'criminal' or 'murderer' is a better way to disambugiuate this article. Czolgolz (talk) 14:37, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- Indeed, now that he has been executed, "prisoner" feels wrong. I propose "convicted killer". --Lambiam 12:08, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Indexme (talk) 17:08, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Prisoner or inmate is used correctly in my opinion as he died in that status.
Conservative?
edit"Alito's vote made headlines because he did not vote with Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Chief Justice John Roberts, said to be the conservative wing of the court." - the statement is patently false as all four are Roman Catholics. Even the Pope now admits that he is to the left of Barack Obama. Their record proves that as well (Roberts' approval of Obamacare etc) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.149.198.207 (talk) 15:23, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of this article
editPeople want to keep an article for a giraffe that was executed, yet this guy can't have an article? Ha! Go Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.102.116.97 (talk) 03:14, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Delete for a lack of notability of the offender or the victim, and for a lack of legal importance. American executions are banal events. Horrible crime, but rape and murder always are.Pbrower2a (talk) 05:20, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
The article should be kept. That one might think "American executions are banal events," is irrelevant -- this represents historical significance, however small, in terms of involving a serious crime with a lasting impact, in terms of involving high-level federal government action, and in terms of its potential to become a reference for later discussions of the death penalty, sexual assault, murder, the U.S. Supreme Court, the particular justices involved, and so on. Future aggregations of such data would be harmed by losing easy access to this information. A lack of notability of the offender or the victim might be cause for deletion if the article were about a fistfight at a bar, but since we generally agree that murder, rape, the death penalty, and U.S. Supreme Court action are notable things, the offender and the victim become notable through the situation itself, not vice versa. --Techgeist (talk) 06:28, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
