Neutrality

edit

(Originally on Talk:Jane Longhurst) This article focusses on the death of Jane Longhurst and in doing so, present a severely one-sided argument. More attention to the details of the case surrounding her death is needed, as is an explanation of the circumstances leading to her death (i.e. mention of what form of 'consensual sex' was taking place). Is it better now? Mdwh 15:15, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think so. Snowflake Sans Crainte 19:35, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Possession of extreme pornographic material article?

edit

(Originally on Talk:Jane Longhurst) This is being mentioned on a few Wikipedia articles now ... I wonder if we should create a specific article on it? Suggestions as to a name? Mdwh 02:52, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's definitely worth an article of its own given the wide-reaching consequences should this proposal become a Bill or even get passed as an Act. 'UK Home Office Proposals on Possession of Extreme Pornography 2006' sounds like a reasonable title that would be in-keeping with how legal articles are listed. Merge from Jane Longhurst

edit

The merge I just did was discussed at Talk:Extreme pornography, that was the page it was originally proposed that the articles be merged into. delldot talk 16:41, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Then the link to Jane Longhurst in the opening line should probably be removed, no? Richard001 (talk) 06:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rename

edit

This article is not about Graham Coutts, but rather the events surrounding his crime and trial. I propose a rename to something along the lines of Graham Coutts Murder Case (or do we name murder cases after the victims?)

Good point - usually naming them after the murder victims is most common in my experience, i.e., Murder of Jane Longhurst. Mdwh (talk) 12:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I think this is a great idea - it's the event that's notable, not the guy. Let's figure out what the most common thing to do is and do that. Or does WP:NC have anything on murders? delldot talk 15:03, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Graham CouttsMurder of Jane Longhurst – Coutts isn't notable, being known for only the one event. Hence by WP:ONEVENT there shouldn't be an article about him. (Similarly for Jane Longhurst, though the article on her was merged some time ago.) However, I feel that the event itself is notable because of the resulting changes to the law. Hence the article should be named Murder of Jane Longhurst. (This has been suggested before on Talk:Graham Coutts but nobody took it forward.) A bit iffy (talk) 09:06, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Support, on the basis that we usually name these types of articles after the victim (e.g. murder of... etc). However the article will have to be re-written to make it focus on the victim rather than perpetrator. Till I Go Home (talk) 09:36, 6 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
