Plural?
editSurely the plural of 'murex' is 'murices', NOT 'murexes.' as per my OED Jatrius (talk) 08:45, 23 May 2014 (UTC)

editCould probably condense all those references to a single link.174.45.178.216 (talk) 03:21, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
Geographic range?
editIf the genus is defined as having an Indo-Pacific distribution, it's not clear how murex snails ended up playing such a large part in ancient Middle Eastern and Greek society based around the Mediterranean. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 12:50, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
- The article shows that some of the snails classically referred to as "Murex" are now classified as "Haustellum," the former being specific to the Indo-Pacific and the latter existing in the Mediterranean. It is a bit confusing. It does seem to need some further explanatory notes. The section on Human Use might need to be moved to the Haustellum article. Ja0n8 (talk) 17:21, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
