Infobox

edit

*Adult Contemporary needs to be removed as a genre, as it is not a genre, rather a style or radio format that can comprise of every other genre that exists.

Lead

edit

*Without You needs to be in quotes instead of italics.

Background

edit
  • On the albums ---> On the album's
  • Make all songs to --> song's

*Hero (single not the film) needs to be in quotations and not italics.

  • Aside from the changes on "Dreamlover", "Hero", the albums second single, also had its own story.

Writing and development

edit

*With Carey in the captains chair, and with more control than she had on any other album --> With Carey in the captain's chair, having more control than she had on any other album,

  • Never Forget You needs to be in quotes not italics.

Composition

edit
  • The albums ---> The album's
  • All songs need to be ---> song's
  • Critics believed the songs --> Critics believed the song's

*The songs composition --> The song's composition

  • "mid tempo and midly dance-able," stating that Carey..... ---> "mid tempo and midly dance-able," with Carey's voice being called *"perpetually happy" and like a little girl."
  • "Hero" , The albums --> "Hero," the album's.

*The albums title ----> The album's title

  • albums b-sides --> album's B-sides
  • As Non-free content, the Dreamlover sample needs a more detailed rationale to be included.
The rationale is still very generic. It needs to state and detail why "Dreamlover" is included, and what is important about it.

Singles

edit
  • Make all albums --> album's
  • Make all songs --> song's
  • Add a few sources to verify critical reception.
  • Add a few sources to verify chart positions. A Billboard source and Hung Median (which will source most European, AUS & NZ w/ one link) should do for each singles.
  • Is there a rationale for which and why all of these audio samples should be included? If not they need to be removed.
As with the "Dreamlover" rationale, these rationals need to state and detail why they are included. Being in that the descriptions only talk about how they charted, there really is no reason why they should be included. Remember WP:NFCC rules.

Critical reception

edit

*, as they praised it for its tracks, lyrics and vocals. --> , praising it for its tracks, lyrics and vocals.

  • Regarding copyright infringement, the Allmusic review needs to be trimmed down and/or paraphrased more.

Same thing for the Billboard review

Chart performance

edit

*French album charts -> French Albums Chart *Move last sentence into third paragraph to avoid a a stand-alone line.

Promotion

edit
  • Regarding copyright infringement, I recommend that you paraphrase the NYT review a bit and also reduce it.
If you have reduced it, I still would recommend paraphrasing more and taking out the block quotes.

Album credits

edit

*Needs to be sourced

Charts

edit
  • Is there reason why there is a chart of singles peaks when there is a singles section where the charts can be consicely stated, and they are otherwise recorded in the Carey's discography?

Chart precession and succession

edit

*UK Albums Chart UK number one album --> remove second UK Begin to work on these fixes. Otherwise, good work! Candyo32 17:46, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hey, everything is all fixed--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 22:38, 22 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Remainder

edit

Thanks for getting back on the Singles thing, I didn't realize they were in the Madonna articles. I might start using that strategy now. Anyway, here is what is left,

  • I'll pass on the "Dreamlover" sample, but considering that audio samples are non-free content, I am hesitant for you to include three audio samples in the singles section. I would just choose one and elaborate on that. Just because the other samples are singles and/or available doesn't warrant inclusion.
  • Allmusic review is a bit messy. Try this --> Giving the album 4 out of 5 stars, Roc Wynn of Allmusic said that Carey's "octave-leaping" voice was downplayed in favor of the demonstration of "her ability to sing softly and cooly." Although favorably stating that Carey lowered the volume on her vocals, he said that the energy had declined, with the exception of personality-injected songs like *"Hero" and "Dreamlover." Overall Wynn said that the album's "different" approach was wise.
  • The same paraphrasing still needs to be done for that NYT review in the promotion.
  • Music critics praised the song, calling it her most directly inspirational song since "Make It Happen". - Needs source.
  • The music video for "Hero," featured footage from Carey's concert at Proctor's Theatre, as was done for Carey's following music video for "Without You." - Need source.
  • Carey brought the song renewed popularity, threw --- Threw --> through

Just a little bit more, then it will be on its way! Candyo32 00:55, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fixed the rest :). I paraphrased more on the NYT review and added your suggestion for the Allmusic review. For the samples, I added 2 to the composition because the songs ans their composition are discussed there. Now for the other two, I placed both "Dreamlover" and "Without You" into the singles section because "Dreamlover" was the album's most successful song in the US and "Without You" was the album's biggest international hit (#1 in almost all major countries). So I think that fixes the issues :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 05:34, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I still would remove one of the samples. If the article ever goes for FA, they will request for its removal because since it is not free content, and WP:NFCC 3a says minimal usage. Then taking in to consideration of NFCC 8' s contextual significance, listening to the song really doesn't add to the understanding of how it charted in so many territories and so on.
