This page needs expanding - the introduction mentions countries in the region of particular interest from a musical point of view, but hardly any further expansion has been made after the introductory paragraph. The region of West Africa has brought us many of Africa’s musical giants - Ali Farka Touré, Fela Kuti, Toumani Diabaté, Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour, Baaba Maal, Oumou Sangare, Amadou et Mariam, and the band Tinariwen. There is not much mention of style apart from a brief section on the Cape Verde Islands - what about Afrobeat, Gumbe, Highlife, Juju, Makossa, Mbalax and Wassoulou - not to mention Reggae, Rap & Hip Hop. There is also potential for expansion on the musical instruments mentioned in the introduction - Kora, xalam, Djembé and Talking Drum, (although it must be noted that these instruments all have stand alone pages). Page deletion

This page seems to be a thinly disguised advertisement and to exist mainly so search engines can pick up the links. It contains essentially zero information about the topic of the page. I believe it should be deleted. MichiHenning (talk) 21:53, 6 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Removed irrelevant image per WP:IRELEV, maybe useful when the article has grown beyond its current length. Stanleytux (talk) 13:28, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
