The original citation for "mutational meltdown" as far as I can see are some of the Lynch citations in "further reading" as well as Lynch et al. 1995 [Lynch M, Conery J and Burger R (1995) Mutation accumulation and the extinction of small populations. American Naturalist 146: 489–518]. I suggest correcting ref 1 (citation for the original concept) to these Lynch refs and modifying citations to the current ref 1 as appropriate.
