I was trying to find the character's name in the show, for the car, besides "Mom." In this article it states that her name was Abigail, other information I have found states it is Gladys. Can someone remember? and confirm for me? Thanks. --FELICT 02:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Only the CAR is from 1928

In the episode "You Can't Get There From Here", David discovers his driver's license is expired in a small town. The sheriff says he can't drive with an expired license. So they are stuck there? Except his ENTIRE FAMILY is with him -- INCLUDING HIS WIFE. You are going to tell me that SHE doesn't have a driver's license? In 1965? I might have bought it had they said something like, "No one else can drive Mom, I mean the Porter." Or they could have said that she doesn't know how to drive a manual transmission. Granted -- unlikely since someone of her age would likely have learned how to drive on a manual transmission car. But, at least address it. I got so frustrated I changed the channel. Admittedly, that may have been the solution they came with, but then why was Barbara crying with everyone else at the commercial break? She's not THAT scatterbrained. Article says: "The 1928 Porter used in My Mother the Car is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and owned by Dave Bodnar"

In 1928 no auto manufactuer made a car called a Porter. The make is entirely ficticious and the car itself is made up of parts of other cars. 74.104.189.176 (talk) 12:52, 16 December 2021 (UTC)

what does "F.R.P." stand for?

An Internet search suggests to me that the initials stand for “Finlay Robertson Porter”, a short-lived early car company/ model named after its founder. I have no Wikipedia-worthy source to provide, and hence will not use this information to alter the article, but this post may provide a starting point for someone who wishes to take more active measures.
