Contested deletion
editThis article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (we are a national charity and we are trying to raise awareness of the rare muscular disease, Myasthenia. I am new to creating a Wikipedia page and I would like some help creating it rather than being shut down) --Chrisam91 (talk) 13:43, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Chrisam91: You have almost admitted that the page should be deleted under criterion G11 for speedy deletion, blatant advertising or promotion. Even as a non-profit, you're still promoting the organization's cause rather than informing people about it. —C.Fred (talk) 14:26, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- To meet the notability guidelines, it will need to be shown that the organization has gotten coverage in national newspapers or magazines—that it passes the general notability guidelines. The national coverage needs to be in reliable sources that are independent of the organization; its own website does not count for this purpose. —C.Fred (talk) 14:29, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- ...and sure enough, a Google News search for "Myasthenia Gravis Association" brings up lots of newspaper hits. I've got to nip out now, if you'd all like to fix up the article and take it to Did you know?, that would be lovely. Cheers! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:40, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
