Criticisms
editConsidering the recent rise in the popularity of Nassim Taleb and his black swan thesis, would it be appropriate to include his criticisms of Scholes and his methods here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.157.204.94 (talk) 03:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
At the very least, the gushing praise in the introduction, e.g. "... for a new method ...," and "All binomial option models have evolved from this original concept." seem exaggerated in the light of this paper.
Also, the Kurtosis risk page mentions Scholes and LTCM, so it seems reasonable for the Scholes page to mention Kurtosis risk. Martin (talk) 03:54, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Pronunciation
editCan someone please add the correct phonetic represantion of Myron Scholes' last name? There is a lot uncertainty of how you pronounce his name since more than 80% of people called Scholes use 'Skoles', and about 5% use 'Sholes'. If you don't believe me, see: http://htmlgear.tripod.com/poll/control.poll?u=peterscholes&i=1&a=vote
I believe it is 'Sholes', but I have no way of verifying that at this time. Zaglabarg (talk) 14:39, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
The correct pronunciation is "Sholes." My company did some work with PGAM, and I met him several times. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.101.129.81 (talk) 18:08, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
