Undiscussed move: Mystere to Mystère

edit

Oppose undiscussed move. Most English speakers do NOT include accents and other diacritics. Thus, Mystere is the 'most common name', and thus should be the location of the article. Niteowlneils 2 July 2005 06:10 (UTC)

Oh, dear. Being the commercial name the company itself uses for the production (on posters all over Vegas), I assumed it'd be utterly controversial uncontroversial. Like Citroën 2CVs or the Renault Mégane, surely? Or any number of heads of state and geographical locations with Wikipedia articles and the corresponding diacrits. Hajor 2 July 2005 06:45 (UTC)

The page could not be moved without administrator assistance. It had been listed on WP:RM it should not have been moved without the procedures on WP:RM being followed. The guidelines on WP:RM are there so that other editors such as Niteowlneils can discuss the proposed move and a consensus can be reached before the move is made. Philip Baird Shearer 2 July 2005 08:21 (UTC)

Again, apologies. I thought moves involving diacrit corrections were uncontroversial (witness the past week's flurry with Poland articles now we can use UTF). I shall move the page back to Mystere, re-list it on WP:RM, and cast my vote. Hajor 2 July 2005 14:18 (UTC)
This is ridiculous. The issue of whethere the name should have accents or not had already been decided by someone adding the correct accents and nobody complaining or reverting. To date, nobody has questioned the fact that Mystère has a grave accent on it (look at the article). This is just a matter of making the title match the article. It does not require any consultation process, especially as there was a notice on the article announcing that it would be moved as soon as technically possible. Philip, your anti-diacritic crusade is not wanted here. — Chameleon 2 July 2005 14:47 (UTC)
Did you like the unwitting irony of my "Poland" comment? Meanwhile, endless effort is expended in another meta-discussion that now accounts for 3 or 4 times the volume of the corresponding stubby article. Ah, the WikiWay. Hajor 2 July 2005 15:44 (UTC)

Proposed move

edit
  • Support Mystère -- name as used by the company in its publicity materials. Compare with Renault Scénic, and with the other Cirque shows Alegría and . Hajor 2 July 2005 14:18 (UTC)
  • Support — The only anti-policy move that has happened here is Hajor's move from Mystère to Mystere after being bullied by Philip. I'll give this vote a day or two then move it to the correctly spelt title, as I have recently done with dozens of articles. — Chameleon 2 July 2005 14:51 (UTC)
  • I moved it back. It is absolutely invalid to start a vote about a specific article when the issue in question is a general one, and one where there is a clear 40-20 consensus (see Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (use English)). NoPuzzleStranger 2 July 2005 15:34 (UTC)
    • This talk page needs to be moved too. — Chameleon 2 July 2005 16:42 (UTC)

Discussion

edit

It is better to follow WP:RM procedure most reasonable people will agree to abide by a WP:RM consensus, which only takes 5 days to do and in the life of a Wikipedia article and the life of the Wikipedia project is not long to wait. Oh yes and it is customary with WP:RM moves to wait 6 months before asking for another WP:RM back to the original name. This tends to cut down the moving of pages which have controversial names and saves lots of editors lots of time on edit wars. Philip Baird Shearer 3 July 2005 19:09 (UTC)

Copyrights??

edit

The content for 'Acts' and 'Characters' has been picked up from the Cirque du Soleil site [exact copies] (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/Mystere/Mystere-Las-Vegas.htm). Is it alright? ShAkUn SaInI *_* (talk) 06:25, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Characters

edit

What is the source for the characters section? Or is this someones interpretation of what the characters represent? If so, this section should be removed. It (seems) completely objective and watching this show, you would never ever arrive at the same interpretation.Jameywiki (talk) 23:49, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
