Subject: Re-recorded versions(?)

The article states that the songs 'Gravity's Rainbow', 'Atlantis to Interzone' and 'Four Horsemen of 2012' are re-recorded versions of songs from the Xan Valleys EP. However, having listened to that EP, I would say that the songs sound very similar - are they definitely re-recorded, or are they the same versions?

Nathan Barley quote!??

edit

I've cut this sentence from the main article, it came after "although it received more mixed reviews from other critics."
QUOTE:
" Nathan Barley describes the album as "being really cool and having lots of sirens, that makes you want to take acid and rave it up for no reason". "

Given that:
a) Nathan Barley is (unless there's another Nathan Barley) a fictitious character from the TV series of the same name (and, originally the "TV Go Home" website). And even if he was a real person, he's not really the kind of reputable critic worth quoting.
b) The series was broadcast in early February 2005, while the Klaxons didn't release their first single until March 29, 2006.
c) "TV Go Home" hasn't been updated since 2003.
d) I don't recall hearing the quote when I watched the series on DVD last weekend (though I may be mistaken).
e) There's no citation for the quote's source.
f) A quick web search returned no (reliable) mention of the quote, either as stated above or with the implied reference to the Klaxons (but several examples of this page's info having been copied to other pages).

I find it hard to see any reason for including it. So I took the initiative and moved it here. If anyone can find any reliable evidence of this quote anywhere, please put it back in, with a citation... But I suspect someone was having a cheeky giggle. As I mentioned, searching for the quote reveals how many websites simply copy content from wiki. Strange, that. You'd think they'd have the decency to stick a link up ;)

re-record

edit

I'm pretty sure they're re-recorded. But they obviously didn't change much in the re-recording process did they?

I'm not so sure about Gravity's Rainbow and 2012 BUT I would say it is pretty damn obvious that Atlantis To Interzone was a re-record, if you listen to the start of the song then you hear an electronic keyboard saying "DJ!" or something like that - and that never happened in the original version.
Basically then if all the first songs were recorded at the same time, and one of them comes back once its on the album as re-recorded, then there's a good chance they re-did the others as well. (Don't see why though...the new Interzone has nothing on the old one...) --SteelersFan UK06 16:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
The Gravity's Rainbow and 4 Horsemen re-records seemed incredibly obvious to me, I didn't really notice the Interzone one though... on closer listening I can tell though. -Ally 18:08, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

There are two versions? I have herd another version of Atlantis before, I thought it sounded a lot better than the album version. Is the other version a bootleg or another release of the album? AJUK Talk!! 18:03, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Loudness citation

edit

"Some have complained about the loudness of the album clipping the sound" - in relation to this quote from the article, the source referenced does not appear to be of a sufficient standard. The reference links to a discussion forum on Amazon.com - 'Victim of the loudness war' where one user has commented that they think the production of the album is poor. There is no further discussion from any other users and it gives no indication that it is a common complaint. I'd guess the person who made the comment is the same person who referenced it in this article. The production may very well be poor, I don't own the album and I'm not much of an audiophile so I might not notice anyway. However the reference doesn't seem to provide any evidence of a commonly held complaint about the loudness of the album clipping the sound. I am removing the above quote and the reference from the aticle. Peteds (talk) 23:50, 19 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was not my comment but this is the album that made notice the loudness was, I noticed there was something up with it with out the need to look at it in a wave editor, however when I did I was shocked, the whole album looks like a series of bricks! 82.33.91.167 (talk) 19:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
