Organizing
editTo organize this article even more, I propose we use the following sections:
1. About NESN / History / Introduction
2. Red Sox Coverage
3. Boston Bruins Coverage
4. NESN SportsDesk
5. List of Shows
6. List of Commentators/Reporters
I will overhaul the article this way soon... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by RyanMcK (talk • contribs) 1:39, May 10, 2006 (UTC).
Merge SportsDesk into NESN page
editThere just isn't enough info about SportsDesk to make it notable enough to deserve a page of its own. Check out the current SportsDesk page and you'll see there's not much more info there than there is on the NESN page. Doc502 04:55, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
"Remdawg's" Link
editI noticed that when you click on this Link in the "Trivia" section, then it redirects to the Jerry Remy page. This link should either be removed or someone should create an article about the restaurant Remdawgs, as that is what it is. I'm not good at making stuff on Wikipedia, so I don't suggest I do it, but someone please change it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ppierce365 (talk • contribs) 19:02, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
List of Announcers for Red Sox Games
editWhat is the best way to clean up this table, having the list of guest booth announcers for 2009, as well as all the people who pop in and out of the Studio to be distracting and throwing off the visual appearance. What about a different table below it for all the people who rotate through the studio as well as the rotating guests for 2009 in the booth? 216.211.255.98 (talk) 16:14, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Infobox
editWould it be useful to have an infobox like was done for the YES Network and SNY? --Coingeek (talk) 01:31, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Update NESN Logo
editWeb Developer for NESN here. I uploaded the most recent version of our logo in high-resolution to Wikimedia. You'll notice the blue is darker. We use a variety of blues, but #004276 is deemed the official NESN blue. Here is the new ticket:
- http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NESN_Logo.png (1088 x 354)
Not quite sure how to associate this image with the article, so I'll leave that to the Wikipedia experts.
Peace!

- EDIT
- Nevermind, Wikimedia deleted the image I uploaded because it didn't contain a valid license. I dunno how to edit the license information nor do I feel like figuring out how. Sorry fellas. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jkereako (talk • contribs) 16:59, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
It started before 1984
editAs a Canadian Maritimer, the Canadian provinces that border Maine, and the "Boston States," I can assure you that Bangor, Maine's NBC affiliate WLBZ-TV, Channel 2, carried the New England Sports Network, as I was able to watch the Red Sox vs the Yankees in their great rivalry years 1977-1978. At the time, the NESN was TV-38 Boston. Could citations be found to support this, or at least support the 1984 version of NESN? Cause I know what I watched back in the 1970s.--Abebenjoe (talk) 03:16, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Requested move 8 September 2017
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. Listed for two weeks with only one comment opposing. Unlikely that further relists will generate more discussion. I'm closing this as no consensus. If someone wants to try for an RM again in a month with better sourcing for the claim of COMMONNAME, no prejudice against that.(non-admin closure) TonyBallioni (talk) 05:02, 25 September 2017 (UTC)
New England Sports Network → NESN – It seems as if today and throughout the article, the channel is just simply referred to as "NESN" and not by its abbreviation, so it would make more sense to title it "NESN". JE98 (talk) 16:09, 8 September 2017 (UTC)--Relisting. —usernamekiran(talk) 19:04, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
- Comment: Would Mid-Atlantic Sports Network also be part of this move request for the same reason? ONR (talk) 21:04, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose but suggest relist again. Current policy/guidelines don't seem to cover this well. Reliable sources may well prefer the TLAE, but it's of only local usage and likely to mean something else or nothing at all to most readers, so it's not recognisable. Requested move 29 April 2022
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: consensus not to move the pages to the proposed titles at this time, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 04:14, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
– Per this discussion, which cited WP:NATURAL. 100.7.36.213 (talk) 21:01, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose: These are common names, one of which actually used by the network. The FS1 situation is different because FS1 needs disambiguation, but the other ones are either the primary topic or an unique acronym. ViperSnake151 Talk 00:10, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- If I may ask, which one is "actually used by the network"? 100.7.36.213 (talk) 12:45, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose regarding NESN and NBCSN, as they do not currently require disambiguation. However, MASN does require a MASN (disambiguation), so I'm neutral on that one pending any other evidence. Zzyzx11 (talk) 03:15, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. Honestly, I have my doubts MASN (disambiguation) is a necessary page. Would Moving Anthropology Student Network really survive an AFD? I don't see anything on Link 22 about that sort of MASN either (although it exists). Nohomersryan (talk) 04:57, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- No, I don't think it's notable enough to survive an AFD. We should nominate it for deletion as soon as possible. 100.7.36.213 (talk) 19:04, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose. per ViperSnake. This seems a bit pointy too. Calidum 14:05, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, I agree in hindsight. I don't think I fully understood WP:NATURAL. 100.7.36.213 (talk) 19:03, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
