Redirect with link
editOn a google search [1], just about 90% of the pages for the National Rugby League, so I think that makes a good case for a redirect with a link to NRL (disambiguation). This was the original edit here. --Rugby 666 05:56, 10 December 2006 (UTC) Not sure why this was reverted, just about every wikilink to here pertains to the football competition.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Disambiguation "Ask yourself: When a reader enters this term and pushes "Go", what article would they most likely be expecting to view as a result?"
103 links to here, 2 are not about the footy. Fairly clear what editors (who are also readers) think.
- I've cleared most of the NRL links so they go to the correct article rather than to here. The only ones left were on talk or user pages.
- As to the google link above it has an interesting result. Most of the links in the first few pages (8 of the first 10) are to sites about the Australian National Rugby League and the Wikipedia page is number 45 on the list. But if you use google Canada the order of results is different. The Wikipedia article on the Australian National Rugby League is 9th on the list and only 3 of the first 10 (including the Wikipedia) are on the list. Then using the US google you can see that the Wikipedia article is 8th and again only 3 of the first 10 are for the National Rugby League. In all three cases the nrl.com are the first listed. So it's not clear that most people will be expecting to see the National Rugby League when they type in NRL. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 22:24, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- As pointed out before, pretty much all of the internal links that pointed here were for the football. The other NRLs, with the exception of the laboratory are insignificant, and even that has only a couple of paragraphs. It's just pure bloodymindedness to keep reverting this.
So why hasn't it been fixed yet? Clearly the National Rugby League is the primary topic.--Jeff79 21:42, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- Done. I fail to see how the National Rugby League doesn't satisfy the requirements for primary topic.--Jeff79 21:50, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
NRL should be the Australian National Rugby League comp, with others redirecting from within that page. Londo06 07:01, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
