July 21 vs. July 22 premiere date
editIs there some sort of rule I'm missing that supersedes the principle of using the actual date? Nielsen convention? Slavish adherence to the PR line? I tried to clarify the issue in the text, but even if it is less confusing to market it as Thursday night, that doesn't change the fact that from midnight on, it's officially Friday. 12:15 am = 00:15. At the very least, this divergence should be disclaimed for all instances. I don't feel that I am staking some baseless position, here. Dancter (talk) 04:22, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Adult Swim promotes the show that it airs on Thursdays, not Fridays. It's even listed as Thursday on adultswim.com. And they promote that it airs at 12:15 am EASTERN. But let's not leave out the other time zones. Like Central; it airs at 11:15 pm then. Regardless, NTSF:SD:SUV:: is promoted to air on Adult Swim on Thursdays, so that's what it will say on the article whether you like it or not. Shoesquashfan5000 (talk) 16:43, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Even if the story broke on May 1 elsewhere in the world, the Wikipedia article rightly states that Osama bin Laden was officially killed on May 2, in the place where the event occurred. Adult Swim only offers Eastern and Pacific feeds, so whether viewers not in the Eastern Time Zone experience it on Thursdays is irrelevant, because the event technically didn't occur there. Such viewing wouldn't be at 12:15, anyway. Cable providers have the discretion to time-shift as necessary. Look up any programming guide that is designed to list Adult Swim programming against other channels. If they list the time slot as 12:15, then they will list the day as Friday. Even if Adult Swim markets it as Thursday to accomodate viewing habits, it does not actually get to determine what day it is. Dancter (talk) 19:07, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- I have always found it confusing when a TV network lists overnight shows (sometimes up to 6:00 a.m. the following day) as part of the previous day's schedule. I don't think we should expect people to keep track of what definition of a "day" each network uses; just use the real time and date. However, additional text to clarify would be helpful. I would suggest something like this for the specific Adult Swim program under discussion here: "NTSF:SD:SUV:: airs on Adult Swim late Thursday nights/early Friday mornings at 12:15 a.m. ET/PT, after Childrens Hospital. It premiered on July 22, 2011[4][5][6][7]." (The fact that all those TV listings services say July 22 would make it even more confusing if this description said July 21.) Pop culture reference section
editThere is a list of the references used as source material for the information here, a bibliography, if you will, but where is the references to the names of the episodes' original influences?
- S1E1 "one potatoe, two potatoe"
- S1E3 Xs and Os could be either the usual markings used to signify hugs and kisses on cards, letters, etc. or the game of Tic Tac Toe
- S1E5 Finnegan's Wake
- S1E6 "Houston, we have a problem."
- S1E7 Full House
I could go on, but I do not know all of them, I am sure others are also seeing these and possibly ones I don't know about. Not having seen this, but I am pretty sure the entire series is references not just from the titles, but with the themes as well, but where is the section giving those references for the titles? 32.212.102.239 (talk) 05:39, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
