The result of the move request was: Moved. Nan'yō and Nanyo will henceforth redirect to South Pacific Mandate. — Amakuru (talk) 19:35, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
Nan'yō → Nan'yō, Yamagata – "Nan'yō" (or "Nanyo", which currently redirects here) most often refers to the South Pacific Mandate. The South Pacific Mandate/Nan'yō played an important role in the Second World War and had a greater population than the current town at this title. Most Japanese cities are at "City, Prefecture" names already, so the proposed title should not seem particularly unwieldy. According to page view data, South Pacific Mandate sees much more traffic than this article (118/day vs. 3.5/day). While it is not clear how many people type "Nanyo" in an attempt to arrive at South Pacific Mandate, "Nanyo" and "Nan'yō" are used for the mandate in many English-language texts, such as Nanyo: The Rise and Fall of the Japanese in Micronesia, 1885-1945. Most of the first several pages of hits for "Nan'yō" and "Nanyo" in Google Books refer to the South Pacific Mandate. Dekimasuよ! 02:33, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
- Support nominator presents convincing evidence that the South Pacific Mandate is the WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT by usage and long-term significance for the lemma "Nan'yō". 59.149.124.29 (talk) 05:51, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
