So where are the citations to prove that the notion of this song being written for Nancy's fourth birthday are false? I tire of seeing endless 'citation needed' tags on widely-known facts, only to find no complaints on lesser-visited articles containing controversial information delivered as fact with no supporting evidence whatsoever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.239.29.29 (talk) 22:51, 3 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I didn't realize that hitting return in the Undo Message would publish it rather than just going to the next line, so I'll have to put my Undo Message here. I reversed the edit of 22 May 2024 by 85.64.166.212 since he had apparently misinterpreted his source, an interview with Phil Silvers on the Dick Cavett show. The edit claimed that Silvers had said that he had written the song for his daughter. In fact, what he said was that he had recently written revised lyrics to the song for his daughter's upcoming wedding. The relevant portion of Silvers's interview is in the source he gave at about the 15:17 mark. (I would include the URL, but Wikipedia won't let me.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Melonseed (talkcontribs) 19:35, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
