Nanggu languageEngdewu language – The recently adopted name for the language is not Nagu/Nanggu any more, but "Engdewu". This is preferred by the population + reflected in Ethnologue + reflected in recent scholarship about this language, e.g. this PhD thesis on the Grammar of Engdewu. Relisted. • Oppose. But perhaps we should relist this. Much as I defer to the Ethnologue, on this occasion it may reflect only the most recent research... perhaps even only one paper. It's the official guideline of one organisation, albeit an authority. Has this name received wider adoption? Andrewa (talk) 15:10, 23 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Any additional comments:
  • (Support). The most important argument is not that the name Engdewu is used by the Ethnologue, but that (1) it is the name preferred by the community itself (cf. Boerger et al.: p.130); (2) it is the only name used in a 588-page reference grammar, which will necessarily become the main reference in the field for years to come, not to mention the many papers which will follow it. So it is not a matter of "only one paper". -- Womtelo (talk) 10:37, 24 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
