The word "nap" surely has many other definitions than those given here, but until there is an article relating to that definition there is no need to add it to the disambiguation page; doing so will simply frustrate readers who will look for an article link and not find one. July 25, 2008 Cleanup

I made this edit in an effort to cleanup the DAB page according to WP:MoSDAB. Usually I leave a summary of reasons for my specific changes, but this one was so complex (and possibly controversial), I thought I'd explain here. Hoof Hearted (talk) 18:28, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

See WP:D#Duplicate topics, don't bother differentiating terms that are essentially the same. Besides, there should only be one link per line.

DAB pages are for navigation, not information. One should never intentionally link to DAB pages except on rare occasions (as with {{other}}) to explain the disambiguation. Regardless, it appears the #link is no longer being used as none of the pages linking to nap contain it. Rather than post a bunch of prose and wait for the article to be made, it is better to make a stub and then add the link to the bullet list of a DAB page. The "nap" in carpet goes to nap (textile), so I feel that link is a good substitute for this entry.

Do not pipe links on DAB pages. "Nappy hair" redirects to "natural afro-hair", and seems like a better link for this page. The link should also be the first thing on the line.

Parimutuel betting defines the term. While I removed some valuable information, I think it goes better on the target page rather than this DAB. I plan on doing that next.

Nap, nap, NAP, naps, NAPS, N.A.P., N.A.P.S., are not mentioned in these target articles - and I looked for related articles that did. Note that National Action Plan for Children is actually NPA (National Plan of Action for Children). All of the NAPs on Internet Exchange Point go to Network Access Point, not Neutral Access Point.

* National Action Party of some Latin American and other countries

Actually, if you follow the link you'll find Latin American countries use the term Partido Acción Nacional, thus the acronym is PAN as in National Action Party (Mexico). Only the UK Party (the only English speaking one with a wikilink) is abbreviated NAP.

Card game called Nap

There is a card game called "Nap" that is mentioned in Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome. This is actually short for "Napoleon". This should be mentioned here. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:56, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

It does actually have an entry in Wikipedia under Napoleon (card game). Since this is a game which is also called "Nap" - as the article itself says - this should be mentioned here. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 20:38, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Proposed split to NAP

Currently NAP is a redirect to this disambiguation page. Since section 1 deals exclusively with things abbreviated "NAP", and the other sections to things nearly exclusively called "Nap", I think it is reasonable to split them out into two DABs per WP:CONSPLIT. (However, that refers to articles rather than other pages.)

There are several other NAPs (National Action Plans) which are not on this DAB: see Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2016_January_24#National_action_plans. It's possible, of course, to create a DAB at National Action Plan, but that would seem a worse "split". I am unsure whether to add those titles to the DAB while that discussion, and this, are underway.

I think the two discussions are reasonably distinct, so to have both concurrently is not ideal, but probably better than waiting or boldly adding the entries here only to remove them soon after. Si Trew (talk) 10:43, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

I don't think it makes sense to split this. As a disamb page it is intended to cover a diverse set of topics and enable readers to easily find what they are looking for. Making users figure out which is the right disambiguation page to go to would not support that goal. WP:CONSPLIT really does not apply in this case, since having multiple distinct topics on the page is the whole point of the page. I don't think the page, as is, is overly long. Is there any precedent for splitting a disambiguation page into two for different capitalization? meamemg (talk) 16:34, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Oppose. There are examples of dab pages that are and aren't split up. As long as it doesn't get unmanageably long, I don't see a need. Clarityfiend (talk) 02:05, 25 January 2016 (UTC)
