The result of the proposal was Moved to Napo (trade union), per the precedent shown by Tassedethe. Jac16888 Talk 16:14, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
– I am a representative of the organisation Napo. The current wikipedia page for "National Association of Probation Officers" was not created by us, although it is about us. We are known as Napo, and have been for many years and do not wish to be publicized by the old name. I have tried moving the page but have been told it cannot be done. Can you please advise what can be done or if you can do this for us. Many thanks, Keith Waldron, Napo_Admin, Napo — Preceding unsigned comment added by Napo Admin (talk • contribs) 14:49, 24 January 2012 (UTC) עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 15:39, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Administritive note - thie request above was posted at WP:AN by Napo Admin (talk); I'm merely forwarding it to the proper discussion place, along with adding the required move of the disambiguation page. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 15:39, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Support in principle, but final name for this page should be NAPO (all caps). – ukexpat (talk) 15:48, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Actually going by their website about page ([1]) it seems they go by "Napo"--Jac16888 Talk 15:51, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Support. The only other plausible article that could be moved to NAPO would be National Association of Professional Organizers. That organization was founded in 1985, versus the 1912 date here. It's also a US organization, compared with the UK group under discussion here. Not sure if that impacts this discussion, or if some notice should be posted over there as well. If this move isn't approved, would Napo (UK) be an alternative? UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 16:28, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Struck, as per below. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 17:58, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose - Napo, Ecuador has a claim on the primary title. See also National Association of Police Organizations, National Association of Pizzeria Operators, Napo Pharmaceuticals, ad nauseam. I'd support a move to Napo (UK organisation), or something to that effect. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 17:48, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- I disagree, to some extent. None of the places listed at the disambiguation page are notable enough themselves to be known only as "Napo", in the mold of "Los Angeles" as opposed to "Los Angeles, California". But you're right about the organizations; it's not possible to parse who is the most Napo of the Napos. I've amended my comments, above. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 17:58, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. No indication that this is the primary topic of "Napo". If the question is simply of correctly titling the article, then a qualifier such as Napo (trade union) (or the above-mentioned Napo (UK organisation) (with an s) ) would be a simple technical move (no discussion needed). -- JHunterJ (talk) 18:51, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, yes, of course -- fixed the "z" above. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:59, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose as is. Support moving National Association of Probation Officers → Napo (trade union) in line with other UK trade unions e.g Aspect (trade union), Community (trade union), GMB (trade union) etc. Tassedethe (talk) 00:20, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose per Sarek and JHunterH, I was going to "reluctantly support" on the grounds that it is the name of a well known organization (albeit a strange name, that probably cost many thousands from a brand consultancy - maybe the same people that advised them on rebranding the "Napo Probation Directory" to "The Probation Directory"). Bu the other NAPOS and Napos are significant. So now I support some kind of move to Napo (disambiguator), provided that WP:COMMONNAME is satisfied. What the disambiguator should be, I'm not sure since Napo claims to be a trade union, a professional association and a campaigning group. Maybe Napo (UK organsisation). Rich Farmbrough, 00:25, 25 January 2012 (UTC).
- Strong oppose whatever you guys call yourself, does not mean that your organizations trumps everything else. Suggest some disambiguated form of "Napo" instead. 70.24.251.194 (talk) 08:48, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose and encourage to withdraw - It seems quite probable that the person who originally requested this at WP:AN didn't realize that retitling the article to Napo would mean naming it as "primary topic" over other uses; they just wanted to put the organization at the correct title. I highly doubt anyone would object to retitling it Napo (some disambiguator), which could be done without any admin intervention. Letting this discussion sit open for a week or more seems unlikely to provide any benefit. Theoldsparkle (talk) 16:08, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

editPlease change "Napo (formerly the National Association of Probation Officers) is the trade union that represents probation officers and Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service reporters in the United Kingdom." to "Napo (formerly the National Association of Probation Officers) is the trade union that represents probation officers and Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service staff in the United Kingdom."
