Etymology?

The Narcissus (genus) article describes the two possible origins of the genus name, but it could be interesting if someone could find out why this particular species has an oxymoronic name (pseudo = false - so Narcissus false narcissus)... Mittfh (talk) 10:18, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Because, once upon a time, the genus was divided into Eunarcissus (True Narcissus) and Pseudonarcissus (False Narcissus).--Michael Goodyear (talk) 22:27, 1 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
