This page should probably be moved to Nathaniel Clifton, not many people search using quotation marks. --nixie 08:41, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Clifton was not the oldest man selected to an all star team. For example, Jordan was older in 02-03. I'm sure there have been others

-He was the oldest player named to his FIRST all-star team. - spinetingler

It differs from the one at Find-A-Grave on his tombstone which is 1926. Lincher 13:06, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

contradiction?

edit

In the lead:

"He is best known as one of the first African Americans to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA)."

But later in the text body:

"On May 24, 1950, Clifton became the second African-American player to sign an NBA contract.[a] He played his first game for the New York Knicks on November 4, four days after the debut of Washington Capitols player Earl Lloyd, the first black player to appear in an NBA game"

That needs some clarification or correction.--Kmhkmh (talk) 22:42, 7 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Being the second black to play is consistent with being "one of the first African Americans to play". It's a matter of how precise or high level one chooses the lead to be. —Bagumba (talk) 03:39, 8 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sorry my bad, I actually overlooked the "one of" part (in German language version that was actually dropped, I'll correct it there).--Kmhkmh (talk) 07:21, 10 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
