African Immigrant Heritage Month
editSomeone asked for a discussion.
According to the San Diego Immigrant Rights Consortium , the resolution was passed. Also there have been many celebrations of this African immigrant heritage month since.
There is also an Immigrant Heritage Month which is all encompassing. WayMaQueen (talk) 21:51, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks @WayMaQueen: for opening this discussion.
- Although the San Diego Immigrant Rights Consortium states that Congress
passed HR 371
[1], the same paragraph links to the congressional record[2] stating the H.Res. 371 did not pass. - We generally avoid citing WP:SELFPUBLISHED sources like the San Diego group. Perhaps the same applies to the congressional record, but I feel that WP:ABOUTSELF applies. — BillHPike (talk, contribs) 22:51, 8 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. With Celebrations heading, there are communities that celebrate NAIM across the nation. How do u suggest we alter the page?
- Should we mention the NAIM celebrations beneath the page which we could rename IMMIGRANT HERITAGE MONTH which was passed to be celebrated in June by the White House? Because Immigrant Heritage Month is all encompassing, the celebrations for all immigrants can be mentioned? WayMaQueen (talk) 03:11, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
How do u suggest we alter the page?
We need to find reliable sources so this article passes the WP:General notability guideline. (I dislike deletion nominations, so I tried to do so before nominating this article for deletion.)Should we mention the NAIM celebrations...
My personal view is that Immigrant Heritage Month has enough coverage in mainstream sources to survive any deletion nomination. (I can only speak on my own behalf, other editors may feel differently.) — BillHPike (talk, contribs) 03:48, 9 November 2023 (UTC)- Feel free to delete the page and after researching more info and compiling, NIHM can be on another new page. I’m assuming this one must be deleted and can’t just change the title and add? WayMaQueen (talk) 12:35, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- It is possible to move pages, but we prefer to avoid moves while the deletion discussion is open per WP:AFDEQ. Feel free to expand this article now or to create a new one, it is a matter of personal preference. — BillHPike (talk, contribs) 02:50, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
