Arab American Month not MENA
editThe month is recognized as Arab American heritage month and does not include broader non Arab populations of the Middle East and Africa. The month is meant to recognize the history and contributions of Arab Americans (the Arab world has a population of 400 million and 22 countries). Yes, there are non Arab populations in Arab countries, but the month specifically is recognizing Arab Americans.
Someone tried to edit and imply that it should be called Middle Eastern and North African heritage month. But it’s not called that. It’s called Arab American heritage month because 1. They organized it. 2. They have a separate history from other Middle Eastern groups that immigrated to the US. 3. It’s recognized as Arab American heritage month. Stop trying to lump all Middle Easterners together. We have unique histories and experiences.
If you’re going to try to change the name of the page, that is not accurate. The month is officially recognized as Arab American heritage month.
