I was advised to disclose my COI on my user Talk page.
Hope this helps resolve the close connection popup, ThomasNKR (talk) 03:11, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Please stop simply posting wikipedia tags, without providing context behind them. ThomasNKR (talk) 13:59, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
Removal of tags
edit@ThomasNKR: Please do not simply remove tags because you don't agree with them, especially tags that are important to the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Service such as the connected contributor template. The connected contributor template on this talk page is required to indicate that you have disclosed paid connections to NKR. This is for the information of other editors to this page and to show that you have declared your connection according to the Terms of Service.
As for the COI tag: the "context" for placing any tag on an article is contained in the tag template itself, there are clearly indicated links to relevant Wikipedia policies/guidelines. The COI tag is relevant to this article because you have a conflict of interest, since you are paid by an organization contracted by NKR. Declaring the conflict of interest does not make it go away.
Continuing to remove templates from articles simply because you disagree with them can be seen as disruptive editing. Placing these tags is a way to encourage more editors to review the page and further improve it in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please note that Wikipedia articles are not owned by their creators, so your status as the initial creator of this article does not mean you are given any special status over other editors to the page.
I hope this has addressed your concerns. RA0808 talkcontribs 16:04, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- Also, please note that editors with a conflict of interest should not remove maintenance templates from articles. See WP:MTR#When not to remove. RA0808 talkcontribs 16:08, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
@RA0808: Is there anyway to have these COI tags removed? ThomasNKR (talk) 16:11, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- @ThomasNKR: The COI tag in the article can be removed after the page has been reviewed by other editors to determine if it is in line with Wikipedia policies such as neutral point of view. Again, please note that you personally cannot remove the tag from the article since you have a conflict of interest.
- The Connected contributor template should not be removed for any reason, as it is for the information of the wider Wikipedia community. For more information on how to edit Wikipedia if you have a COI please see WP:PAY. RA0808 talkcontribs 16:25, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
@RA0808: Am I allowed to invite other editors to review the page? If no, how do we get more editor traffic through to this page? I will not remove the tag from the article or its talk page, however the goal is to ultimately have these tags removed. ThomasNKR (talk) 16:28, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
- @ThomasNKR: Please feel free to invite other editors (for example some of the users who contacted you earlier to discuss COI policies) to review the page. The more the merrier! One of the other ways to attract more editor eyes to the page is through the use of the maintenance templates like the ones I just applied, which add the article to maintenance categories for other editors to notice.
- Again, I will say that the template on this talk page will likely never be removed... since your COI does not go away simply because you declared it and the article was reviewed by others. This is in the interest of transparency to other editors and future readers. RA0808 talkcontribs 16:32, 8 July 2016 (UTC); edited 16:35, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
