Threshold for list inclusion

edit

There's a list of "National gods" with no references nor inclusion standards.

Would Ahura Mazda qualify as a national god for Persia? Power~enwiki (talk) 05:45, 11 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Zoroastrianism was a more Universal religion that was practiced by the Armenians and other non-persian groups for some time so I don't think he would count as a national deity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.79.144.150 (talk) 02:49, 5 February 2019 (UTC) http://www.academia.edu/18709024/Armenian_and_Georgian_Zoroastrianism — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.79.144.150 (talk) 03:07, 5 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Anachronism

edit

Could this article be tagged in need of substantial editing, as "national" is a modern label that is anachronistic when applied to antiquity

"Tribal god" is missing & much needed

edit

To section above: not good enough of an answer, not by far. Wokeness kills communication by removing essential, organically developed parts of the lexical wealth of each language.

A tribe has very different characteristics from a nation, and size isn't even the most important one. Tribal god is widely used in academic texts and that's only logical. We need it here too. Arminden (talk) 16:22, 1 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yahweh is the god of the Jews

edit

In the list it says that god is the national god of the Israelites in the Israelites Wikipedia page it says Jews are part of the Israelites and the only remaining part (with a small group of samaritans) so to only write Israelites would be incorrect for about the last 2700 years i think it would be a good idea to write Jews instead of Israelites and the Israelites are a part of Jewish mythology and are not very backed by research instead there were Jews and the northern people of the kingdom of Israel. i would like to change this thank you 77.137.79.112 (talk) 07:13, 11 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
