editHello! I'm a doctoral student taking a Rhetoric class, and one of our assignments is to evaluate an article. I'm glad there is a Native American Rhetoric page on wikipedia, and I see you have a great deal many sources tracking its history. I'm wondering if we can start with an introduction that offers some basic tenets of Native American rhetoric. I would especially like if we could add traditional rhetoric practices by a few groups. We can also standardize the citations on the page. Some of the statements do not have a reference attached to them. Hope that helps! JamesSwider (talk) 15:32, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi, I added an entry on Angela Haas' wampum belt article. I also linked to the digital rhetoric page, as part of a class project on inclusivity in digital rhetoric. Lucymobe (talk) 15:45, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
Hello, I'm thinking of adding an introduction that pulls from Andrea Riley-Mukavetz and Malea D. Powell's "Making Native Space for Graduate Students" to establish Native American rhetorical practices as being founded upon a relationality intrinsically connected to a common land base. Riley-Mukavetz and Powell also mention that stories are a central part of how Native rhetoric is done (146). ALESC20 (talk) 19:58, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Lead and Overview/Basic Tenets
editHello, I've drafted a lead and overview which sketches the range of Native American rhetorical practices as well as a few basic tenets of Native American rhetoric; much of the literature emphasizes the relationship between communication/persuasion and sovereignty/self-determination/self-definition (opening sentence of lead and label section). A copy of the potential changes can be accessed here if anyone would like to take a look before I move it to live. I've also outlined some of the key concepts developed in the field of Indigenous rhetoric for approaching, reading, and defining Indigenous rhetoric. Please revert if necessary.
The timeline section could be a good place to expand on the ongoing rhetorical practice of the peoples of individual tribal nations. Barbara Monroe takes a look at Plateau Indigenous groups. --ALESC20 (talk) 04:01, 19 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hello again, I found an image that would go well with the AIM occupation of Alcatraz section. The picture captures AIM claims--written in spray-paint--to the land on which Alcatraz sits. The image might work well as a placeholder picture for the page. The change can be viewed here.
WP is written for a general audience
editThis has to be cleaned up to meet Wikipedia standards. WP articles are not written like term papers. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to change a lot here, or it will go to AfD. It's just too full of jargon and circular references. It's not written for a general audience and needs to be. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 21:24, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
- I made a pass at it, but the entire Timeline section is unsourced and should probably be deleted as WP:OR. The biblio could arguably be trimmed or cut if it can't be used as inline cites. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 21:50, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
