Photos for stained glass taken by Phil Pollard and used with his permission in pennies 4 panes campaign. Reuse of photos on page is not a copyright violation. --Detroitoppo (talk) 22:52, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
- While I certainly believe that the subject of this article is notable and appropriate for inclusion, the article includes content that violates our policies and guidelines. Reuse of photos on a page is most certainly a copyright violation, but these appear to have appropriate permissions on the images. I have no concern with the images used in this article. However, we cannot use the text content culled from the http://www.pennies4panes.com/ website. The content is a direct copy in portions and a very close paraphrase in others. This constitutes a copyright violation and will need to be removed. If you have written the content found on the website regarding the stained glass, or can request permission for use, please let me know. We will need to follow procedure to have the church email the Wikimedia Foundation to legally allow use of the copyrighted material.
You may not be aware of this, but Wikipedia is a collaborative project. My function includes reviewing and patrolling new pages. This includes reviewing for notability, ensuring articles are supported through significant coverage by reliable and independent sources, and editing and formatting for compliance with our Manual of Style, of which you have reverted. It is also not appropriate to remove maintenance templates, such as those discussing the need for improved references and footnotes (inline citations).
Notability cannot be established using primary sources. We actually require the use of secondary and third-party sources. Notability must be established through significant coverage in reliable sources, that are independent of the subject. Primary sources are not considered independent references.
For the sources used from the books, we will need to include the page numbers on which the corresponding content can be found. Can you get these and add them to the article? The books listed in the article also need to be supported with ISBNs.
I need to go back and edit the article again for compliance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for articles. If you have questions, please post them here on the talk page. Please do not outright revert or delete edits made to bring the article into compliance, since this is considered disruptive. I am more than happy to provide guidance and answer any questions you may have. Best regards, Cind.amuse 02:19, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your help with this. This is my first attempt to contribute to Wikipedia. I wrote the text from the pennies 4 panes brochure as well as providing all of the pictures. I can support all of the facts in the article and will add the page numbers as appropriate. I used primary sources (published parish histories, programs and other documents from the parish archives) to research the article. I will find secondary sources given a little time. This is a storied and well documented parish having been home to five of Chicago's 25 mayors. Just a note. I found your initial edits heavy handed and overbearing. It almost caused me to swear off being part of this community. I would have expected a comment here before the extensive rewrite. Again thank you for your help. What can I do to get assure the stained glass content remains. Regards76.237.184.212 (talk) 20:50, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
