The definition of natural frequencies is I think always quite technical, whereas the intended audience for this article is not. I was inspired by this example, showing how to set the scene before delving into the specifics. I've rephrased to make the set-up more concise, and the definition more explicit. @GhostInTheMachine: what do you think of the text now?
